1971 CJ5, Dauntless V6, dual, gas tanks
Very original
Superior condition
Runs great
This is NOT a Renegade model. It just has the decals on the hood.
I bought this CJ off of EBay in 2009. I had searched for years for one that had not been substantially modified and was solid when I finally found this one. It ran, but need A LOT of work.
This is my personal Jeep that I’ve restored over the years and has been a daily driver. I'm retired, so I only put a few thousand miles a year on it. I've never off roaded with it. It’s been meticulously cared for and maintained. I’m only selling her because I have more vehicles than parking space
This jeep is NOT “as it came from the factory original”, but it is “ original” minus any substantial modifications. It has been very well maintained and had a few upgrades: it’s been repainted the original color and the Renegade decals added, alternator upgraded to an internally regulated Delco, engine re-painted with POR paint, second gas tank was added under the seat, trailer hitch receiver was added, a grill guard was added, it has a Bestop Super Top, storage chest is bolted into the bed, a radio was added, seats reupholstered, horn button moved to steering column. The photos speak for themselves.
*ODOMETER: when I bought the Jeep the odometer showed 65,000. I was told that the low mileage was due to it having been used most of its life just to get around on a ranch. The speedometer worked fine, but it was a bit sun faded. I came upon a NIB OEM speedometer for $200, so I bought it while I had the chance and replace the old one (I still have it and it goes with the Jeep). The old speedometer had 67,549 on it and the new one has 12,781, so I assume the Jeep has a total of about 80,000 miles. I don't know if the engine has ever been overhauled, but it doesn't burn oil, and runs great.
The brakes have been completely overhauled: new master cylinder, wheel cylinders, drums, and shoes. It got a new clutch and rear main seal in 2016, and a rebuilt T14 transmission this year.
Lots of extras will go with the Jeep, like:
NIB Pertonics ignition system to include the flame thrower coil (I never installed because she ran so good with ignition points)
NIB spare starter
NIB spare alternator
NIB aluminum radiator
spare Rochester 2G carburetor
5 gallon steel Gerry can with mount
copy of a factory service manual
Copy of an original owners manual
and many, many more spare parts that I’ve hoarded over the years
$1,000 PayPal non refundable deposit required with 24 hours of winning bid, and full payment within a week. I'd like to have the Jeep picked up within a couple of weeks, but that's negotiable.
The Jeep is for sale locally here in El Paso, Texas. If it sells here I reserve the right to cancel the EBay auction.
