CLEAN CALIFORNIA RUST FREE 1988 RANGE ROVER CLASSIC SWB 167K ANIV ED RUNS GREAT
1988 Land Rover Range Rover SWB CLASSIC 40th ANNIVERSARY EDITION Description
Solid, California rust-free 1988 LandRover Range Rover. This RRC Classic is a solid, completely rust-free TWO-OWNER California Land Rover, residing here its entire life since being sold new. It has residedin the Northern CA Bay area for the last few years.
This Range Rover is a rare 4oth Anniversary Edition SWB ( Short Wheel Base) model, completely stock andoriginal. Low 167K original miles, low for any Land Rover. It starts, idles and driveswell, quietly and smoothly on both town and on the highway.
There isNO rust nor corrosion on the body or chassis of this Classic, nor anywhere else as it would be expected from a California-lived Land Rover ( hard-pressed condition to find in any Land Rover beyond the Sierra mountains). BEWARE OF RUST BUCKETS COMING FROM THE EAST COAST~! ( it's beyond me why anyone would want to buy an East coast car with potential hidden rust ).
The Range Rover comes fully equipped with most standard features and amenities available at that time.Factory alloy wheels, along with a brand-new set ofAll-terrain radial tires mounted on them.
NO NIGHTMARISH EAS (air suspension) to contend with EVER, an extremely troublesome and very expensive issue to repair, common on later models.Normal coil &strut suspension. NO air-deflation nightmares ever!
In addition this early Classic has a normal, standard Four-wheel Power disc-brake system. NO troublesome, faulty ABS system to contend with. Early SWBsare the most desirable to own, with the limited availability of the desirable Central Differential Lock system.
Stock 3.9L engine runs very well. This is the first year of the upgraded engine. As it is well documented in all Land rover circles, the 3.9L motor was a vast improvement over the earlier 3.5 engines as it was more robust and had more torque as a result of engine redesigning to increase displacement to a more efficient, reliable powerplant.
NO overheating issues, ticking nor noises to contend with. NONE. It always runs cool, at around a 1/3 temp all day long.Automatic transmission shifts well into all gears.Four-wheel Power disc brakes brake smoothly without pulsation. Power steering and Power windows ( all four work), Power mirrors( finicky),Sunroof, Powerseats, cruise control, CD stereo and A/C.
Finish is its original Chamonix White factory finish. Still shines quite nicely ( the photos were taken prior to having it buffed, polished and waxed). The body, chassis, undercarriage and every single angle and seam are super solid considering this Classic is nearly thirtyyears young !
This original Classic is sold unrestored, and the opening bid more than reflects that, at a quarter of what a finished, restored Rangie would cost.
There is NO oxidation of the clearcoat on thehood or roof, a common ailment on many Rovers, specially East Coast examples where the elements and salted roads have taken their toll on the body panels and undercarriage, a hindrance nearly impossible to repair!
Its original Connolly upholstery is in very good condition and has held up very well.Rare Ash gray leather. Both front seats have been recently reupholstered, as well as a new headliner has also been installed.Overall, aclean interior, door panels and carpeting.
The photos show the Classic accurately. NON SMOKER vehicle, ever. A very solid, rust-free unrestoredClassic 1988Land Rover, with better-than-average miles and a good 3.9L engine. It runs well with a strong, solid powertrain.Clean chassis, no tweaks and NO rust and nice interior. It will make an excellent restoration candidate, great traveler, camping vehicle or just a fun Land Rover to drive aroundas it is.
I've been around Land Rovers for over 30 years, and have owned various models and vintages.Unlike the vast majority of sellers who simply sell what they do not know ( let alone car dealers!), Iam proud Land Rover owner and long-time enthusiast ( actually, I own five:a 1972 Darien-gap Expedition tribute 2dr SWB,a 2010 RR Sport and threeDiscovery IIs, including a 2000 DII TreK competition vehicle ( #2) and I am fairly familiar with all of their quirks, prices of every nut and bolt as well as repair costs. Knowledge is power.
Feel free to call me with questions at (650) 430-4660 PST. I have priced this SWB Classic way below market to sell.Land Rovers are the best investment for the money, specially the examples with the desirable CDL system to boot.
I am also advertising this vehicle in other venues, and as such, I reserve the right to end this listing at any time. Rust-free Range Rover Classics are getting harder and harder to find without them being all rusted out, a ton of miles on them, or having to pay a premium for a restored example, usually starting at around $25K.
Cheap usually equates to a busted heap, a pile of parts or a rusted-out bucket. I am fortunate to be able to locate clean, original and unrestored rust-free examples here in California; unfortunately, as with everything else, the supply is finite and one day there will just be no more.
Payment to be received within THREE business days please. It can be made via Cashier's check or money order(s). Business, Personal or Annuity checks may also be utilized but mustclear first prior to any transportation arrangements being made. An alternate way is bank wire transfer to our local CHASE Bank branch here in town. It expedites the process considerably and allows for faster shipping arrangements.Upon receipt of payment, I will mail the CA title and bill of sale via USPS Priority mail with tracking information.
I will be glad to assist coordination transportation/ delivery of this Rover Classic anywhere nationwide or overseas at the most reasonable rate available. NOTE: Do not go by the Ebay calculator. It can ship for under $1000 anywhere to the East coast. Closer less of course.
