These trucks get harder and harder to comeby at reasonable prices each year. This is a good example, is the perfect camping / adventuremobile...or you can drive it as-is reliably as a daily driver. Everyone has their own ideas of what they need in a rig and that's why we are letting this one go unrestored. In short, this great example is entirely up to you to personalize and build as you see fit. (We will gladly lend a hand of course)
100% legally imported and registered in the State of Virginia. She is currently parked up at our shop in the Martinsburg region, where we restore these vehicles and work on other Land Rover's. Given we charge folks $45 to work on these trucks i simply have run out of time to work on my own projects and this happens to be one of those. Yes you are more than welcome to come and look. I will also gladly restore the vehicle for you.
For a 29 year old vehicle it is in far above average shape. She suffers from very few of the standard Defender issues that come with a vehicle of this age.
—> She drives exceptionally well, manages to do 65-70 without road gradients, and goes around corners the way she should. —>Frame requires virtually nothing, as the rear outrigger has been replaced and it is in good condition.
—>As with any original or "so called freshly painted" land rover's, rust areas such as the door bottoms and bulkhead are inevitable. This vehicle however does not suffer from such derailments.
—>The bulkhead, is in very good shape, and will need nothing.
—> Paint is original! Not shiny or dull, but just LAND ROVER ENAMEL from the late 80's that still looks fantastic age considering. Extremely honest, the only way to buy one of these.
—> This truck actually has only 100,221 miles. This is verifiable with old paperwork that we received with the vehicle. This really is quite low mileage for one of these, as many you see have over 200k miles and or no documentation.
—> I would recommend a new set of tires and throwing a bushing set at the suspensions. Plus a good service with the correct fluids!
I have personally driven the vehicle and know how what and where, and will gladly answer any concerns you may have. In my opinion (grew up in the back of a 109 station wagon, rrc and defender restorationist, and owned every ladder chassis landy aside from a forward control) it is, a good truck mechanically, certainly on par if not better than the trucks we usually deal with and repair.
Fluids have been checked, but they are not serviced. I do recommend you fully service the truck upon taking delivery. Easy truck to work on and i will gladly lend a hand via the phone/skype if you get stuck.
Please remember, this vehicle is now 29 years old and as such has the normal expected wear for it's age due to its originality. Please do not come or bid expecting a showroom 110. If that is what you are looking for you are going to pay 70K+. That being said, it is a great truck that is the perfect starting point for your own adventure lifestyle for years to come.
We do stock quite a bit of parts that can be purchased separately and a price for installation can be negotiated.
As with any auction, we reserve the right to cancel any and all bids, as the car is locally for sale as well.
Go explore and live well.
