1984 Land Rover Defender 90. VINSALLDVAC7AA217240
Please note that Ebay will not accept these assigned VIN numbers on 1984 vehicles.
Right hand Drive. 4WD. TurboDiesel. Manual transmission.
Seats are ingood shape. Rare, 2 forward facing seats with shoulder belts in good condition. The bones of the vehicle appear to be in good shape, however, I amnot a mechanic.Tires appear pretty new with excellent tread.
Mileage is listed but actual mileage of engine is unknown as the original Land Rover Diesel 4 cylinder engine was replaced with a more powerful BMW 2.4L inline 6 Turbo Diesel Engine. This may have been done in England. These engines were standardin the BMW 524td in the 1980s(also for a limited timein theLincoln Mark VII).
The overall condition of the vehicle isappropriate for its age. There are items that I know of thatneed to be addressedinclude trouble shooting one of the exterior turn lights, interior light, needs new door window seal, door hinges need to readjusted, clutch is heavy, there are wheel locks without wheel lock keys (I am told that a Land Rover Dealer can provide you these if you can show ownership) and engine smokes quite a bit.
A decent backyard mechanic/tinkerer can do most of the above work himself/herself. I have not brought the Defender to an engine shop, honestly. The price reflects the possibility that the engine may need an good (expensive) massaging.
I bought this vehicle for thousands more a few months ago, but the wife wants it out of the garage and sold to help finance a pool.
