Have had this car for around 5 years and it is time to sell it as I moved on to a truck. It has the 4.6 DOHC aluminum engine similar to the 96-98 Mustang Cobras but with slightly less HP. It has factory 3.27 rear end (the base models only come with 3.08). Has sunroof, AC works great.
With these cars, you can do almost anything you can do to a 94-04 Mustang such as supercharger kits, rear end gears, bolt in an 03-04 Cobra drivetrain even.
Condition:
- Interior is not the greatest and needs some work. That is how I bought the car and I never really came across any Mark VIII's in the junkyard with the interior still intact to be able to fix those interior pieces.
- Exterior is in decent shape. There are the usual small door dings, blemishes. Clear coatis pealing in a few places (pictured).
Aftermarket:
-18" staggered Bullitt wheels, 245/45 up front, 275/35 rear. All Nitto 555 (fronts are new G2 555 mounted about 3 months ago, rears have plenty of tread but are 4 years old). One wheel has some slight curb rash. They are about 4 years old.
-Mandrel bent custom 2.5" exhaust after stock catalytic converters with Dynomax UltraFlow X-pipe resonator, no mufflers in rear. Stainless tips. Put on about 3 years ago.
-All 4 speakers are Infinity MB Quart ONX157 5x8's and will remain installed (but there will be no stereo or amps)
Maintenance:
-Both front air suspension assemblies are new OEM's that I replaced about 3 years ago and have around 30k.
-Rear bags are a little over a year old from eBay and have held up great.
-New Bilsteins in the rear about 3 months old. They totally change the way the car rides.
-Air compressor was replaced with a lower mileage one from LKQ about two years ago.
-Since owning the car at 102k, I've always used Mobile1 synthetic high mileage oil. Never used anything other than the Motorcraft 802S oil filter.
-new motorcraft surpentine belt is about 3 months old.
Things that it needs as soon as possible:
-new radiator (I am driving with cap loose and use AC to keep radiator fan going so it won't build up too much pressure and leak coolant). I don't have a garage right now to put in a new one. You should be safe enough to drive this without leaking out since it stays cool on the highway anyway.
Other small problems:-The message center console looks like it had been burned before. Previous owner put tape around the air bag light and caused it to burn the outside layer of the console light (pictured)
-The SRS airbag light is blinking (has a ground condition). Normally this is caused by the steering wheel clock spring that goes bad in these cars.
-The heater blend door actuator arm may have broken as there is no heat at all (but heater core is fine).
-Sometimes driver seat will not recline.-Front end parts sometimes make small clap/click sounds when turning the wheel.-Bottom of engine is a little wet of oil. It may be time to drop down from using full synthetic oil as it usually easier for synthetic oil to find a way out through old seals.-Needs front tires re-balanced. One of the inner-weights came off. Same shop that put on the new tires also completely broke one of my center caps which are hard to find now.-Sometimes it smokes upon cold start-up, likely valve seals (goes away after a few seconds). Doesn't do it every single time.
Miscellaneous Info:
-Several years ago I was rear-ended by a Minicooper, but was a very, very minor impact. The bumper cover was scuffed up but was repainted at a Ford dealership (Brandon Ford) with perfect paint matching. This MAY or MAY NOT be on the Carfax because I never checked. Again, this was not a major impact. I am only putting this here so there are no surprises later.
