Has sunroof, cold AC, factory HID headlights. Air ride is fully functional with years to go. Car rides like a sports car with the new Bilstein shocks in the rear. Considering most Mark VIII's for sale are 100% factory, and usually have had their air suspension converted to regular coil springs, you are getting more in return. Most frequently asked question is if the car will be OK for driving long distance to another state. I would not hesitate to drive it as the radiator will remain cool on the highway.
For the price, consider what the car has and it is a value. Items below were all bought new in last 5 years:
$700 - OEM front air suspension assemblies only a few years old
$220 - Bilstein shocks (same part number for 2003-04 Cobra) in the rear only a few months old
$600 - mandrel-bent custom exhaust, muffler, stainless tips
$1500 - Bullitt wheels with Nitto 555 tires ( 5 x 4.25 lug pattern )
-----
$3,020 Alone.
Condition:
- Interior is not the greatest and needs some work. That is how I bought the car and I never really came across any Mark VIII's in the junkyard with the interior still intact to be able to fix those interior pieces or replace the front seats. My plan was to also find a donor Mark 8 with black interior so I could do a complete switch-out. Just never happened.
- Exterior is in decent shape. There are the usual small door dings, blemishes. Clear coat is pealing in a few places (pictured). Just needs touched up in some places, some new clear coat and detailing. Paint is still glossy nonetheless.
Aftermarket:
-18" staggered Bullitt wheels, 245/45 up front, 275/35 rear. All Nitto 555 (fronts are new G2 555 mounted about 3 months ago, rears have plenty of tread but are 4 years old).
-Mandrel bent custom 2.5" exhaust after stock catalytic converters with Dynomax UltraFlow muffler (built-in X-pipe). Stainless tips. Sounds great, has that Mustang sound (ask for video link)
-All 4 cabin speakers are MB Quart ONX157 5x8's and will remain installed (but there will be no stereo or amps)
-New Bilstein shocks in the rear about 3 months old.
Maintenance:
-Both front air spring assemblies are OEM's that I bought new about 3 years ago and have around 30k.
-Rear air suspension bags are a little over a year old.
-Since owning the car at 102k, I've always used Mobile1 synthetic high mileage oil. Never used anything other than the Motorcraft 802S oil filter.
-new motorcraft surpentine belt is about 3 months old.
-Front end Moog parts ( lower control arm, upper control arm )
-Front end Motorcraft parts (outer tie rods, strutrod frame/lower control arm bushings)
-Motorcraft IAC about 3 years ago
-FelPro oil filter adapter gasket replaced about 3 years ago
Drive-ability Issues:
- Radiator leaks mostly in stop and go traffic but no problem with highway driving. Still drive-able but you'll need to keep the AC running so the cooling fan keeps the radiator cool. I simply don't have a place or the time to replace the radiator so I am selling the car super cheap.
-Front end parts sometimes make small clap/click sounds when turning the wheel (common problem with Moog parts since Ford discontinued a lot of the OEM parts).
-Needs front tires re-balanced. One of the inner-weights came off.
-When trans is warm, reverse engages a little too firmly. maybe accumulator spring. Trans is perfectly fine other than that.
Other non-drive-ability problems:
-The SRS airbag light is blinking
-The heater blend door actuator no longer letting heat out
-Underneath a little wet from oil, not sure where from.-Very rare, but once in a blue moon there will be a small amount of blue smoke on startup that goes away after a few seconds, very likely the PCV valve.
Miscellaneous Info:
-Several years ago I was rear-ended by a Minicooper. The bumper cover was scuffed up but was repainted at a Ford dealership (Brandon Ford) with perfect paint matching (absolutely cannot tell it was repainted). The impact was very minor so no cause for concern over frame damage but you are welcome to look.
Payment:The vehicle is listed for pick-up, and I will . accept cash. No checks please, I do not use a checking account. Same will apply if you are having a transport company pick it up. They will still need to provide cash.
Thanks for looking.
