1971 Lincoln Mark Series Description
Great car to restore or drive as-is. I simply do not have the space to keep this car indoors anymore, therefore she's gotta go.
Bought this from a guy who had it in storage for over 10 years with hopes of restoring it. He had moved out of state and left it in his mom's garage and she needed it gone. When I bought the car the carb was in a box in the trunk so I had no idea if it ran or not, but the body was solid so I took a chance on it. Well, once I had the carb rebuilt and bolted it on it started right up and ran great.
Keep in mind that this is a running and driving car, but it will probably need a few things to be ready for a road trip. Here's what I would change before taking a long journey.
1) Tires are pretty old and weather-checked. They hold air but I wouldn't trust them at high speeds.2) Only the front brakes are working. Previous owner pinched the line to the rears for some reason.3) The car needs a front end alignment badly.4) All the windows work, but the motors are getting tired so they're slow going up and down.5) Eventually will need exhaust manifold gaskets.
Overall the body of this car is very solid. No rust underneath whatsoever. Not even under the doors. There is some rust starting in the rear quarters and along the bottom of the cloth top. (See pictures) All the trim pieces are laser straight. All glass is there and in good condition.
Like I mentioned before, the engine starts up and idles smoothly. No major leaks or smoke. The transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears. Steering is light and effortless. The car stops fine, but like I said, the rear brakes need to be repaired.
The interior of the car is in fair condition for the year. The leather could use a good steam cleaning. The dash is cracked in a few places. Carpet is in good shape. Headliner is perfect.
I am listing this car for sale with no reserve and a very low starting price. I hate to see her go but at this time I have way too many projects and not nearly enough room...
