Today i am selling my 1984 Mercedes 300CD turbodiesel coupe. This car was finished in burgundy color with " Palomino " color leather interior. Yes the seats are leather and not MB-Tex. This is a gorgeous color combination and i do get a lot of compliments on this car whenever i drive it .This classic Mercedes coupe was always pampered and garaged and it shows.
The body and the paint are still in outstanding condition. This 300CD was never in an accident and there are no dents to speak of. There is no rust at all. The paint still shines like new and there are only minor rock chips from freeway driving. The chrome is in excellent shape all around. The rubbers, moldings and seals are in very good condition as well. The interior has been kept vey nice. The leather seats are still soft and there are no rips or tears. The carpet, door panels and headliner are clean. The original dashboard is in excellent condition and the wood panels are perfect. This car really looks exceptional all around .
But the best thing about this 300CD is the way it drives . Everything has always been attended to right away and there is no delayed maintenance. I could not think of anything it needs at all. Last month i went on a 1100 mile trip and this Mercedes performed perfectly. With the turbo charged engine it has plenty of power in town and on the freeway. I was constantly cruising between 85-90 miles per hour with the AC blowing ice cold. The transmission shifts smooth through all the gears and it is a pleasure at high speeds orcruising in town. There are no funny noises or smells. All the gauges are working the way they should. The sunroof, power windows, power door lock, air-conditioning and climate control all work without problems. Even the original power antenna and the original radio function as intended.
This would be a perfect car for somebody who likes classic car, but needs them to be very reliable. With only 132k miles this 300CD has many more miles to go. There is 300TD with the same engine and 512k miles on Ebay right now and it is still driving well. If you keep taking care of a classic Mercedes diesel like thi, it can last you a lifetime. I believe the W123 series Mercedes were some of the best cars they ever built .With the gorgeous color combinatio, great condition and the low miles this 300CD would also be a great fit for a collector or an investor . Mercedes only made 8007 300CD turbo diesel coupe for the american market and after 32 year, there are just not that many around anymore. Prices have been going up for these cars over the last few years and should continue to do so .
I would prefer to sell this car locally to somebody who could actually come out and see it/ test drive it . But i would also be willing to help with shipping arrangements or an airport pick up ( LAX ) for out of town winning bidders.
