1973 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL Description

Originally traveled the Autobahn this high performance 1973 350SL Is Very Rare and Very Collectible R107 with a 3.499 230 hp. V-8 4 Speed Manual Convertible Hard Top Roadster

S/N 10704310008998

Unlike the North American twin head light cars these cars had the European single lights with the narrow bumpers while the North American cars had the big wide bumpers. Also came with European Head Light Dimming that can be used as daytime running lights.

Car was originally 717 Papyrus White with one repaint to Metallic Blue that it is now. It has parchment Interior. With Navey Blue Carpet andSoft Top. Hard Topis ColourMatched.
It is optioned with Factory Air Conditioning and Manual windows, Manual Seats, Manual Locks, Power Steering and 4 Wheel Disc Brakes. Factory mirrors with headlight glare decrease. Factory Excellent Condition Rims with Factory Alloy Spare also excellent condition.
Aftermarket Pioneer Stereo System
While the North American Market saw a production of 66,298 Cars the European Market only saw 15,304 cars. The American Market got the larger engines with Low Compression 450SL 4.5 Liter and 160 HP and all were Automatic Cars. Whereas the European Market got the higher Compression 350SL 3.5 Liter Model Cars, that had 230 HP. In the European Market they did offer Manual Transmissions. There were a lot that were Automatics and we can Estimate the Manual Transmission cars to be around 25% of production. This coupled with Right and Left Hand Drive cars it narrows down just how many left hand drive Manual Transmission Cars were produced. This makes it a Very Rare Collectible Car.

This is a low production collectible Parallel Market Car one of very few produced with a manual transmission from factory. We suspect it was originally purchased in Austria and Imported to North America through Military Channels. I just drove this car from Edmonton Alberta Canada to Ontario Canada in September 2015 with no problems. Most parts are interchangeable with 450SL models and all 350SL parts are available through Mercedes as well as aftermarket routes.

I had originally stated it was a 230HP engine when in fact they were 147kw or 197HP. I'm sorry for any confusionas there aredifferentinformation sources.
The European Cars had 9.5 to compression and the North American cars had 8.0 to 1 compression.
This is a numbers matching car with the engine serial number in a picture above 116.98310000861.
Engine serial number break down is as follows 116.983 is the correct original engine for the car 10 is Left hand drive manual transmission engine and 000861 is the serial number for the engine.
