1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class E320 Description

1995 Mercedes E320 Wagon - 130,000 miles – Clean CarFax.

Polar white with light gray interior. No accidents. Clean car fax. No engine or warning lights. AC blows COLD.

Super nice Mercedes from the years when MB build quality was best in the world. This car should really be considered a SPORT wagon given the performance! This is a very nice and clean example of a fully loaded 1995 E320 Wagon with lots of recent repairs and maintenance performed.

I have all manuals, two keys, the car has a spare and first aid kit with tools that came with the car originally. Very nice original condition overall.

Loss of job means I’m selling this now. As you will see from my maintenance records, I intended to keep this car for a LONG time. I fixed anything and everything that was in need. Any small leak was corrected. I have over $5K invested in repairs and maintenance. Your win. This is a VERY solid car mechanically and a very nice car cosmetically for its age.

My most recent service was to replace an odometer that stopped working. I found a replacement that had more miles showing than the car had on it. I estimate that the car had 130,000 miles before I replaced the gauge cluster. The new one showed 136,983 so the car picked up 7k miles. Bummer. The receipts I have for repairs and oil changes will document that the gauge only recently stopped working so you can trust this car has less actual miles than shown on the odometer now.

Of course, when I changed the gauge cluster I learned that the oil level light did not work in the old one so I then went ahead and did an oil change early and replaced the oil level sensor. Another $244 invested for the new owner.

Excellent mechanical condition. Interior is very clean with a few age related minor issues.

Car is very fast with a silky smooth engine that pulls and accelerates very well. Smooth idle. Amazing suspension and great brakes. Transmission is flawless. Tires are ok. A few interior flaws in line with a nicely maintained car that is 21 years old. This car is not showroom but is in great condition overall.

There are a few things that are not working which are minor: driver’s power headrest, instrument cluster clock, center console locking cover and a few vent louvers on the center vent are loose.

This car actually turns heads. Great price for a great car. I can help you find reasonable shipping options. I paid $775 to move it from PA to TX last year.

Review from 1995 that is very accurate.

QUALITY IS never having to say you're sorry, and if that sounds like someone's definition of love, you're right.

You want to understand quality? Do something for someone you care about. I did. I spent a weekend here assembling furniture for one of my daughters.

The kid will have to live with the furniture for the next three years. I wanted to make sure that it was put together right. Correct assembly ensures longevity, and it improves chances for safe and pleasurable use.

Mercedes-Benz understands what I mean. That's why it builds cars as good as the tested 1995 E320 wagon. It's a super-tight wagon, nothing wobbly or shaky about it.

In fact, if there's one big complaint about the E320 wagon, it’s that the thing is overdone.

The E320 is built like a vault, but it runs like a sports car. No one needs that kind of quality in what is supposed to be an ordinary family hauler. But having sampled the E320's many pleasures in the harsh environments of the New Jersey Turnpike and the jam-packed streets of this city's West Side, I'm glad that the people at Mercedes-Benz cared enough to reach way beyond the acceptable in bringing their wagon to market.

Background: At a base price of $47,500, the E320 is the second most expensive station wagon sold in the United States. The most expensive is BMW's 530iT Touring wagon, which carries a base price of $48,600.

In that costly climate, the E320 is the best buy -- because it’s more comfortable on the road, has more sensibly arranged cargo space and a more fuel-efficient engine and, well, for the life of me, because I just can't see why the BMW costs $1,100 more.

Mercedes-Benz will keep the current E320 wagon through the 1996model year, after which it will introduce a new 1997 model. That means consumers who want and who have the wherewithal to buy a top station wagon might get a price break, if they're willing to take a 1995 or 1996E320.

For the deep of pocket, there's much to recommend buying a currentE320, beginning with safety.

No individual consumer buys a vehicle to crash it. (The government and the private Insurance Institute for Highway Safety spend money that way.) But if you had a serious crash, you'd want to be in an E320 with its heavy-gauge steel body, dual-front air bags, knee bolsters, automatically tensioning seat belts and standard power four-wheel disc brakes with anti-lock backup.

The rear-wheel-drive E320 wagon is equipped with a 3.2-liter, double overhead-cam, inline six-cylinder engine rated 217 horsepower at5,500 rpm. Max torque is set at 229 pound-feet at 3,750 rpm.

The E320 can carry seven people. With the rear seats up, it can haul 42.3 cubic feet of cargo; with the seats down, cargo space is 76.8cubic feet.

A four-speed automatic transmission is standard in the E320.

Complaints: The curtain rod that spools and unspools the vinyl covering that hides stored cargo remains attached to the left rear seat when that seat is lowered. The attachment gets in the way of the cargo.

Praise: All-around excellence. Great road car. You literally feel safe inside this one.

Ride, acceleration and handling: The E320 outmaneuvered many sports cars and wannabe sports cars on the New Jersey Turnpike. Excellent acceleration (0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.2 seconds), excellent ride and handling. Superior braking system.

Mileage: About 23 to the gallon (19-gallon tank, estimated 420-milerange on usable volume of required premium unleaded), running with two occupants, a bike and lots of "ready-to-assemble" furniture.

Sound system: Six-speaker AM/FM stereo radio and cassette with optional CD disc changer. Installed by Mercedes-Benz. Very good.
