1985 Mercedes-benz 300D Sedan Turbo-Diesel Great Condition
1985 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Description
We are selling our beloved 1985 Mercedes-Benz, "Madchen" so that we can move on to a station wagon version of the same car. We love the W123 chassis Benz for all the reasons you will. They're dependable, sturdy and built so tough you'll be amazed. This well maintained Mercedes-Benz 300D Turbo sedan is the indestructible classic daily-driver of your dreams. Even after 31 years she turns heads everywhere we go. Mechanically solid with a clean, never-damaged body this car will easily go another 100,000 miles with minimal preventative maintenance. As a professional machinist and the son of a garage owner, I've taken a lot of pride in making sure this sedan is the best she can be. The legendary Mercedes 617 model diesel engine starts on the first try every time, even on the coldest days. Power and compression are excellent with no perceptible blow-by. The transmission and turbo work exactly as designed and provide excellent town and highway performance. Fuel economy is great and she'll never let you down. Cruise control, all lights, power sunroof, power windows- all work as intended. I've cleaned and put down fresh rust preventer underneath and in all the nooks and crannies; just keep her clean and you won't have to even think about rust for years. I've done a lot of work replacing wear items and sprucing her up; all you have to do is drive and love it.

Of course after 31 years there are some minor imperfections. Even though the rear seat is in nearly mint condition, the front seats show 3 decades of sitting. There are some minor blemishes on the headliner and carpet (mostly hidden by the new floormats). Heat, defogger and ventilation work perfectly, but the A/C is not as cold as it should be. The system will need cleaning and recharge. The rear defroster is weak, as you might expect at this age. At some point the power antenna was replaced with a fixed mast antenna. There are a few very minor dings in the body. There are two nickle-sized spots of surface rust, one on either side of the rear window. The glove box hinge needs to be adjusted. The mesh pockets on the backs of the front seats have been removed. The CV boots on the rear axles are reaching the end of their service life, but the joints themselves are still in great condition. The first aid kit compartment lid has a broken hinge.
I've tried to cover all the bases here, but please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. The car is available for inspection and pickup here in Brooklyn, and if you need shipping I will be happy to accommodate your chosen vehicle shipper.
