Mercedes-Benz 1992 300 CE Black on Black
1992 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series Coupe Description
1992 Mercedes-Benz 300 CE coupe. Black on Black with Gray trim, NO Rust, Starts up every time, Shifts through the gears like it should, Brakes all good, front pads only have been checked and there is about 3/8 inch of pad. Wheels are in good shape with some minor rubs and I estimate tires have more than half tread and are Continentals with no cracks. Interior near perfect except for a few hair line cracks near trans shift. Radio does not work -- I think that the speakers are disconnected. It has a relatively new Panasonic CD that does everything else correctly. The power antenna does not go up and down. Seat belt shoulder harness retractors both work, power locks work, lights all work except for fog lights that are not present due to aftermarket headlight installation. Windshield wiper and cruise control work. No warning or trouble lights except for the indicator that the fog lights are not present. Heater and temp control appear to work but AC compressor does not kick on and I have not attempted to refill the AC system Three of four power windows work -- drivers rear window does not work -- switch at window feels funny. There is a crack in the windshield on the passenger side, other glass is good with aftermarket tint applied to side windows. Battery is a Mercedes brand and reportedly 14 months old. Oil and all filters changed by certified mechanic who gave the car a good bill of health less than 500 miles ago. I don't have the receipt but was told that at the local dealer where the mechanic did the 'moonlight' work. No leaks or smells. Front Struts replaced with Bilsteins14 months ago, but suspension still clunks a little so refurb of suspension is probably warranted. Wiring harness appears original and everything works. MB history of VIN shows that head gasket was repaired by MB when car was less than 10 years old. I bought this car and drove it home last October, planning to use it as major donor for a 300 series convertible restoration this winter and I am unable to do that dream. I have too many projects, too many cars, and I am 65 years old. The interior is near perfect, as is most of the body except for some poor repaint quality and minor scratches and dings. The car was purchased and stayed in California and Oregon and then sat for a few years there before being brought to Maryland a little over a year ago. In fact, the car is almost too nice to use as a donor. I registered and put plates on it and have driven it almost daily for the past few months. It starts right up every time, cruizes down the road comfortably, does not pull when braked. I live in the Baltimore Washington DC area and will be glad to pick up a buyer at one of the nearby airports or train stations and turn over the car. I will also work with the shipper you choose and pay for. I have attempted to list everything that I can think of and know about the car. There is no warranty expressed or implied, and I reserve the right to take the car off of auction as I am also selling it locally. VIN isWDBEA51EXNB45417
