EXCELLENT DAILY DRIVER-CAN BE DRIVEN ANYWHERE: however this vehicle has multiple ELECTRONIC ISSUES:For some reason there's no "communication" of one or more of the SAM unit controllers(so I have been told) with almost all door panel and steering wheel switches. As a result the steering column controls, power windows, sunroof, power seats, mirrors, turn signals, cruise control, central locking and windshield wipers are inoperable. All instrument cluster controls work with exception of fuel gauge . ABS light stays on but the braking system works fine.It seams the previous owner attempted to do some guess work back-yard repairs making things even worse i.e. causing minor cosmetic damages to interior door panels and switch panels.
Purchased the car nearly a year ago and drove 8hrs from Virginia Beach to SC with an intention to get mentioned above problems corrected/reprogrammed. During last year time period I visited several Mercedes Benz Dealerships in SC and NC, as well as Bosch Mercedes Service and independent "Mercedes Certified" shops without any significant progress. It is time to give up all together. The estimate for diagnosis alone falls within $1200-$1500 (diagnostic plus 8-10hr labor) range. That's not even including solutions/repairs of existing problems !! I simply do not have the resources at this time to enter potential money-pit situation.
PROS: This 500CL runs and drives incredibly well. VERY FAST with smooth shifting automatic transmission. Climate control works in REST mode(excellent heat and not so cold A/C). Navigation, Sound system: Radio and CD changer work properly as well.Functioning Head/tail/stop lights
BRABUS kit includes: Quad stainless steel entire BRABUS exhaust, ORIGINAL BRABUS RIMS, Rear APRON, door step sill plates and emblems.BLACK paint is shiny with clearcoat intact with some scratches on both sides and few small dents/scrapes on window pillar, side trim visible at close range.Interior in OK condition primarily normal wear and tear on 16 year old vehicle.
POSITIVELY NO RUST ANYWHERE, NO LEAKS OR DRIPS126169 MILES (I drive the car at least once a week therefore the mileage will slightly increase)5.0L V-8 302HP ENGINEAUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONAir suspension elevates the car upon start-up
