1984 Mercedes 300D - Complete - Selling for Parts
1884 Mercedes-Benz 300-Series 300 Turbodiesel Description
Owned the car for about six years. Developed annoying oil leaks around injection pump and rear main oil seal. Removed engine but discovered crankshaft journals too far out of round to install newOEM bearings. Engine will not turn with new bearings installed and torqued to specification. Will turn fine with bearings loosened, but cannot berun in that condition. Believe crankshaft needs machined with new bearings fitted. Cost was more than I was interested in taking on. Have since lost interest in the project and want it out of my garage and driveway.. Trans is mated to engine. Was rough shifting like most of thesevintage Mercedes. Can't vouch that the trans will still shift as it hasbeen on my garage floor for about 4 years. Many new parts -- brake rotors/ calipers/ pads/ air filters/ oil filters/ valve cover gasketsand more go with car. Would be a great donor car for anyone who loves these classic old Mercedes.
