1997 Mercedes-Benz 200-Series Description

1997 Mercedes Benz C230 for sale - 118,000+ miles

This vehicle Runs and Drives and is in upper MANHATTAN, NYC. The vehicle sat for about two years and there are some issues with it which I will disclose to the best of my knowledge:

Computer error codes:

1. Camshaft Position Sensor - (easily accessible on the top of the engine)

2. Fuel Trim

The car passed NY Inspection on safety, but failed emissions based on the two codes stated above.

The car has had a engine compression check recently and the compression was good. Transmission ok. The spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter and battery are new.

The car is in driving condition and drives well except for these issues:

1.There is aslightshimmy in the steering only around 60-65 mph (probably tire).

2. Once in a while, when you drive it, the car will start to run rough. If I pull over, turn off the car and turn it back on again, this problem goes away (Camshaft Position Sensor is a likely cause according to a forum I've read). But this hasn’t happened much lately.

3. The turn signals and hazard lights are currently working intermittently. I have diagnosed that the problem has to do with an easily accessed part called the Multi-Purpose Relay (when I jiggle this relay, these lights will go on and off). I have a replacement Multi-Purpose Relay (as well as a Turn Signal Relay, just in case) for this car, but it is, as yet, uninstalled and untested (since I am out of town). However, this set will be included with the car. It is my opinion that this problem is either in the Multi-Purpose Relay itself or in the relay connection point.

There is also some rust on the front door panels, as seen in the photos, but not really elsewhere.

The only leak I have seen is the in the rear differential (still drives). All features and lights work.Leather seats. One key. Only one previous owner.

I didn't get a picture of the odometer but the recent inspection report photo above lists the mileage at 118,149.

Title was clear when I registered in NY earlier this year, despite Autocheck raising concern over a lien which I can’t find when checking the VIN against NY DMV title status: https://process.dmv.ny.gov/TitleStatus/(type in VIN# WDBHA23E9VF600263, year 1997, make ME/BE)

Car comes with a Haynes Repair Manual for this model, and a Thule Roof Rack.

We basically inherited this car and are selling it, as is, because it needs some more work and we decided that we don’t really need a car in Manhattan.
