1995 Mercedes-Benz E420 with 68K original miles
1995 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Description
This w124 is not a perfect car so don't expect one. I would drive this car anywhere. I have taken a lot of care but needs someone more diligentto make it perfect. I've owned it the last three years and put around 15k miles and never had any problems other than the oil pressure switch going bad (twice). Brakes work fine and the acceleration/poweris on point if you want to shift manually due to the kick down switch on the transmission not working. I didn't mind it to keep the MPG down. I would manually drop a gear to pass if necessary. After I had the transmission replaced it started leaking from around the pan. I never could tell where it was coming from underneath but I always check the fluid after it's warmed up. Another thing that happened since the transmission was installed was the exhaust tubes going around the rear of the transmission has a couple creases in it (I believe dueto the removal of the trans when it hung down). This car sounds like a beast though. The ugly is a fewcosmetic issues such as paint oxidation and a couple dings. There was one really bad rust spot on the driver side rear window at the top corner that has been repaired. If you notice in the photos the rear window trim piece and the moldingisn't completelyinstalled. There was another rust spot on the passenger side in front of the sunroof that has also been repaired. I have a new sunroof seal that has yet to be installed and will be before you see it. The sunroof works better in the heat, otherwise you have to assist it when closing. I think it needs a nice cleaning and lube on the tracks. I was going to replace the front and rear bumper but could not find the right ones to replace them with. The front bumper has a crack near the plate and the bottom part from side to side is not complete. The rear bumper has a small crack on the driver side. The driver side passenger door lower trim panel was where I first sprayed it with the pressure washer and it discolored the paint and sticks out like a sore thumb. I wanted to do a paint job on it but I figured it would be best for the new owner to do it his way.The interior is pretty clean with out a detail being done. The passenger seat has a small spot where it is worn. Other than that all the leather is in good condition, could be treated to clean up the cracks. The stock radio has been removed due to the volume knob not working but there is a Sony head unit that works with the radio only. The CD player/aux needs to be rewired due to the antenna if you wanted it to work but I didn't mind it. The AC worked when I first got the car then one day it stopped. I didn't use it for a while then noticed it was working again. Ever since it would come and go. Same with the tachometer. It could be working then you hit a bump and it stops, another bump and it works again, kinda random. I'm not sure if the two were related to the "Kilma" relay but I haven't gotten that far with it. The odometer stopped working one day and I stopped driving it until I ordered a new gear set and had it installed. This was done around 59k I believe. It is noted on the side of the cluster with the exact mileage and date. There is one yellow dummy light that comes one after you tap the brakes to put it in gear, not sure what it is for but all the tail lights seem to be working fine. It has been doing this since my day one with it. The current wheels that are on the car will not come with the vehicle. I have the original set of 16" Alamak with decent tread that will be installed (last photo of one of them in the trunk kept as a spare). They are not in the greatest shape cosmetically but the rubber is good. I know that anyone buying this car is not buying it for the wheels. The driver side mirror was damaged due to something flying up and hitting it on the highway. The windshield was cracked on the passenger side before I got it. I love this car as a classic and selling it to invest into my non-profit. If I were to keep it forever I would perform the next big mileage maintenance tasks to make sure it runs forever. The next owner will love this car as much as the w124 enthusiasts enjoy these cars. I have listed basically everything I have experienced with this Mercedes-Benz E420 that I could possibly list above. Please contact me for any questions you may have.
