TheMercedesSL has always been a stylish conveyance with original racebred roots from the 300SL Gullwing of the 1950s. While having grown in both size and luxury, the SL-series continues to deliver sports-car levels of performance.
The fourth-generation SL (1990-2002) incorporated some of the most advanced safety features of any open car on the road. The 500SLs arrived with an eight-cylinder engine and was equipped with both a power soft-top and a removable aluminum hardtop.

Of this 12-year production run, the final four model years have the best of what this car has to offer: Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Program and the new, cleaner-running V-8 was a better performer.
