2002 Mercury Mountaineer V8 AWD Description

Hello and thank you for looking at my auction. My name is Joe and I sell vehicles differently than most dealers. Buying your next car or truck through one of my NO RESERVE auctions is the best way to take the games out of your next automotive purchase. I personally road test each vehicle before it is offered for sale so I can give you my first hand opinion of how it runs and drives. Please keep in mind that I am not a mechanic. Each vehicle is represented accurately and honestly to the best of my knowledge and ability. Please take the time to read this entire description as well as our Terms & Conditions carefully BEFORE asking questions or placing a bid as most answers can be found in at least one of those places. An administrative fee of $149 will be added to the final bid of each auction.

Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a 2002 Mercury Mountaineer. I would rate the exterior of this Mountaineer to be in AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. As you can see, this is a good looking truck. It is finished in blue overgray. The blue finish shines nicely for its age. All of the body cladding and trim is intact and looks good. The body lines are nice and straight. The hood, doors and tail gate all open and close easily. All of the glass and lenses are intact with exception of the right fog light lens. The factory alloy wheels are wrapped in a matching set of rubber with average tread all around. Please take your time and check out each of the photos carefully.

I would rate the interior of this Mountaineer to be in ABOVE AVERAGE CONDITION for its age and mileage. The two tone brown and tan interior looks good against the blue exterior. The door cards are clean and tight. The carpets are clean and full looking throughout the interior. The leather seats are clean and comfortable from front to back. Both front seats are power operated and heated. The power windows, locks, seats and mirrors all appear to be working properly. The audio system is original and sounds great. There are steering wheel audio controls, too. The climate control system is fully automatic and appears to be working properly. The air conditioner blows ICE COLD AIR. Access to the 3rd row is easy. The cargo area is respectable for an SUV of this size when all three rows of seats are up. When the 3rd row is down, cargo area is downright spacious...drop both rows and you've basically got a small truck.

Mechanically, this Mountaineer appears to be in good running and driving condition. The 4.6L V8 starts easily and runs smoothly. I didn't see any leaks and the engine does not smoke. Her road manners are good for an older truck. The suspension feels tight and well sorted. Steering and braking feel good, too. The engine keeps perfect temperature and excellent oil pressure at all time. There have been no idiot lights on during my road test. The automatic transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly with no issues. Out on the highway, she drives nice and straight with no complaints. I'm not so sure about the AWD system. I gave it the old "gravel test" and the front wheels wouldn't hook for me. There are no warning or error messages active to tell me there is a problem...but it didn't do what i thought it should have done when I tested it and I want to disclose that. She has had the same owner for the last 100k miles, who traded their 94 Explorer on this Mountaineer. She has a current PA safety and emissions inspection good through the end of March, 2017. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
