2005 MINI Cooper S : Automatic
2005 Mini Cooper S Description
Fast, clean, and good looking MINI Cooper S with automatic trans- but needs work and state inspection. The motor and transmission run great. Owned for 3 years, but hasn't been on the road for 1.5 years. Before I took it off the road, state inspection passed easily with a new windshield and new wiper blades. Recent maintenance includes: new distributor and plugs, water pump, crank position sensor, aluminum coolant reservoir, windshield, two new tires, transmission fluid swap (synthetic), motor oil changed with synthetic every 5k.
Had to take it off the road because electric power steering pump failed (it never turns off), which caused alternator to become overloaded and burn up. I replaced alternator not knowing bad steering caused previous alternator to fail, which caused the new one to die within a week. I just haven't found the time to repeat the repair. Both units will need to be replaced, if you're a MINI enthusiast or backyard mechanic, $600 worth of parts and some sweat puts you into a $5k car at a discount. Obviously not a great choice for someone who has to pay someone else to fix it, but if you're handy, it's a bargain.
The power steering pump has been unplugged and the serpentine belt was removed and discarded to bypass bad alternator. Car will start, run and move with the fully charged battery, I keep it on a trickle. After a few minutes without an alternator though, it begins to stutter.
This vehicle is SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS. Buyer will need to arrange to have vehicle towed. Item is listed on local Craigslist also, until first bid is made, auction could be canceled if it is sold locally.
