1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS-T Garage Find
This Spyder is stuck in the second phase of its project and the owner is unable to work on it any longer. I am selling this lot (vehicle and parts) on behalf of the owner, clean title in hand.
Currently the 4G63 engine does not run due to an incomplete intercooler upgrade however I can personally attest that the car drove and performed great before the start of the second phase. I understand this cannot be proven, so the price reflects that. Engine and transmission are stock unmodified. Body and interior are in great shape with no known rust problems and no damage to the beautiful leather interior. As can be seen in the photos the front bumper cover is currently not installed. The convertible top does need repair but goes up and down. The interior is pristine. Everything in the dash works however the stock stereo needs to have the code researched and entered to unlock it. Paint is in great shape.
Due to the nature of this auction the lot (vehicle and parts) will need to be picked up from its location in Fenton, Michigan. If interested, please read on.
The first phase, Brakes and Suspension, was completed about 3 years ago. There is a short video and some photos of it right after the work was complete. The owner spent an estimated $5000 on parts alone during the first phase. The car was shown for one summer before the second phase, Body and Paint, was started. This second phase had only just begun when the work stopped. Intercooler upgrade (from side-mount to front-mount) needed to be mocked-up in order to fit the new front bumper cover - and that is where the project sits today.
This auction lot includes the following:
1. 1998 Mitsubishi Spyder GS-T (rolling) with Seibon “Evo Style” carbon fiber hood. Original hood included if desired.
2. Miscellaneous parts that were removed at the start of the second phase. Fasteners packaged and labeled.
3. New 4-piece KGS Engineering Hybridaero “BLITZ” body kit. Original front bumper included if desired.
4. New Extreme Turbo Systems intercooler system. New alternator. New power steering pump.
Please note that there are some parts that may still be needed to get the vehicle back on the road such as a blow-off valve.
More detail on phase 1. Additional photos of this phase will be provided to the new owner if desired.
The suspension has been completely restored and supplemented with only the best performance products. All work was done to a very high level of quality in preparation for the show circuit. Bonus
There are a number of original parts (for example the side-mount intercooler, etc.), new OEM parts (for example timing belt/tensioner and related parts, gaskets and seals, etc.), and new aftermarket parts (such as new headlights, silicone hose kit, etc.) that are in storage. I do not know the full list of these parts however there are 2 shelves containing new stuff. For the Buy It Now price I will include all these loose parts which I was planning on selling separately - basically everything in the owner’s garage that is related to this project. Please note the original suspension parts were recycled and thus not available.
