1987 NIssan Hardbody pickup
1987 Nissan Other Pickups SE Description
Would you like to see a true survivor Nissan? Here it is!! This 1987 Nissan SE Hardbody 2 wheel drive may have 203,000 miles, but it has no rust. I know it's hard to believe, but there is literally no rocker/floor pan or underbody rust. This baby was garage kept since new. I believe I am the third owner, and you can tell that it was well cared for. Except for some slight carpet discoloration (which I removed and had steam cleaned), the interior is perfect. The seats have almost no wear, The dash is not cracked, the cruise control and power windows/locks/AC work well. The headliner could use a cleaning, but it doesn't sag. The original weatherstripping is flawless and the sunroof DOES NOT leak. I just had the bed professionally Line-X'd, and as you can see in the pic, it had no rust beforehand. It has a new battery, stock exhaust, radiator, wheels and tires and runs like a top. I even have an extra set of the same wheels in oxidized condition that I will include. I also replaced the front brakes, and it passed the brake test and Delaware emissions test with flying colors. Here are a few issues with it. The steering has some play, as most of these do. When it shifts into overdrive, it has a rumble. I think it's a torque converter issue, and if you feather the gas during the shift, it won't do it at all. The rear window has been replaced to to something sliding up in the bed and popping it. There was some rust under the battery tray. I patched in some metal, and Por-15'd it with a vengeance. It's probably stonger than the original metal now. There is some rust in the wheel well were the acid ate through, but I think this can be cut out and patched as well. The passenger side bed has seen a little contact with something. I por-15'd a few rust spots where the paint was worn down and eliminated the rust altogether. There are some ripples on that back part, and the back bumper is a little out of line. Other than that, this truck has less patina than you would expect from a 30 year old truck. (original paint) With a paintjob, this thing would be showroom quality awesome. It has either an oil pan leak or a rear seal leak, which puts a few small spots in my garage, but nothing major. I just serviced the trans, and I was told it had been serviced regularly. I also can't get the tape deck to work, but it is an original unit and plays AM/FM no problem. This truck is a classic. Customize it, or leave it as is, and have a fun little ride to cruise around in!!
