vehicle description

Year:

1981

Seven Hills Motorcars is exceptionally proud to offer this very rare 1981 DeLorean with only 129 actual original miles. This DeLorean is truly a museum quality time capsule. It is the highest quality, most desirable, and best DeLorean on the market right now. The car is totally original, looks like new, runs well, and was recently serviced. The very low miles are confirmed not only by the spectacular condition of the car, but also the clear Ohio title, pictured below, showing the mileage as actual. Please peruse all of the photos, video, and information below to get a true sense of how unmolested and truly amazing this DeLorean really is.

This DMC-12 comes with a wealth of original paperwork, documentation, and service records. Included with the car and pictured below is the original window sticker, owners manual with original DMC pouch, the original title application from 1982, the original odometer statement from the dealer showing the car had 27.6 miles when sold new, the DeLorean Consumer Information booklet, 1981 DeLorean maintenance schedule, Craig radio book, 1981 DMC emissions, and the Goodyear Booklet. The car was produced in October of 1981.

There are service records for the car totaling almost $7,500 since last year. In April of 2015 the car received $5,477 in service from DeLorean Motor Company of Florida. At that time the car had 106 miles. That service included flushing the fuel tank and entire the fuel system, fuel distributor rebuild, fuel injector flow and balance test, other fuel injection system service, power window repair, and air conditioning service. There is also a receipt from March of this year showing that the previous owner had the oil changed. the chassis components lubed, drive belts, lights, and fluids checked, a new battery installed, and the brakes serviced with rebuilding all four of the original calipers. At that time the car had 123 miles.

As a side note, this DeLorean is not a dealer auction vehicle. We hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our cars come from owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car inspected. Please take the time to examine each picture. We photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the DeLorean, just give us a call.

vehicle condition

Exterior

The stainless steel exterior is in magnificent original condition. Both bumpers are in great shape with no cracks or spider-webs. All of the light lenses are clean, clear, and not foggy. There are no major scratches, scrapes, or other imperfections that have been excluded from the photos. The original aluminum wheels are in great condition with a nice finish and no curb rash. Even the original tires are still mounted on the car. As one would expect, this DeLorean has absolutely NO rust issues. We have included many photos of the underside of the car to show how clean and original this car is top and bottom.

The DeLorean looks as good in person as it does in the photos.

Interior

The original interior in this DeLorean looks utterly splendid and nearly factory new. The original seats look amazing. They look just as good in person as they do in the photos with no holes, cracks, or split seams. The carpet is also in wonderful condition as well with no rips or holes. The center console components look amazing and are in excellent condition. Even the glove box light works. The original AM/FM radio cassette player is still in the car; it sounds good and gets fine reception. All of the gauge lenses are crisp, clear, and show no wear at all. The original door panels look excellent with no cracks or splits, and both door pulls are solid and in tact. Even the original sticker with the starting instructions is still attached to the back of the visor.

All of the original decals throughout the interior are still present such as those on the battery compartment lid and those in the front compartment area. The front truck is in great shape and is complete with the jack. The original spare is still with the car and still has the nubs on it. This car has never been smoked in; there are no burn marks and no aroma of cigarettes what so ever. The magnificent condition of this original interior is a testament to the meticulous care and attention this car has received throughout its life.
The interior looks just as good in person as it does in the photos.

Mechanical

This DeLorean seems to be in great mechanical condition. The car starts right away every time and runs well. As stated above there are over $7,400 in receipts for recent service. Many of items completed are issues that one would want to address on the car with such low miles such as the fuel system and brakes. In the video below one can observe the car accelerating, shifting through all the gears, and braking to stop. There is no smoke when starting or driving the car. It is a bit cold-blooded for a minute when first started. The transmission shifts well, does not pop out of gear, and the clutch feels good.

Also, the engine compartment is beautifully clean, detailed, amazingly original, and correct as one can see in the photos. The horn works as do all the exterior lights, wipers, power windows, all gauges, the blower on all speeds, power antenna, power mirrors in all directions, and power locks. The a/c works and blows cold. One can see the compressor engaging properly in the video below. One reason why we did not drive this car more is the original tires. For the purpose of showing or judging the original tires should definitely be on the car. The tires should not be used at speed simply due to their age. They have plenty of tread left and only 129 miles of use, but the rubber in any tire after 35 years should not be trusted at high speeds. Not enough can be said as to how much of a pleasure it is to drive this car.
The car runs just as great as it looks.

Overall Condition

Overall, this 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 is in investment grade condition. Cars like this will become more rare and important as time goes by. It is a great value and we have it priced to sell. The well cared for original condition, extensive documentation, and the extremely low miles make this car especially important and virtually impossible to duplicate. The DeLorean always gets a ton of attention driving down the road. It is very apparent that the vehicle has been well taken care of by its previous owner. The value of DeLorean's has been on the rise in recent times, this is especially true for premium examples like this car. They are secure and wise investments for a collector. Cars like this are the Barrett Jackson stars of the future. One could easily enjoy this vehicle for several years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal effort

Thank you for looking and please email or call with any questions.
