1960 Studebaker HAWK 2 DOOR Description

1960 STUDEBAKER HAWK
THIS A ONE OWNER CAR - ORIGINALLY ORDERED FROM SORENSON MOTORS IN BENSON, MINNESOTA (STUDEBAKER AND OLIVER TRACTOR DEALER)
THIS CAR WAS RESTORED IN THE 1980s AND IS STILL IN NICE DRIVING CONDITION. NOT CONSIDERED 'SHOW CONDITION', BUT NICE DRIVER.
THIS CAR WAS ORIGINALLY 'WILLIAMSBURG GREEN' AND WAS REPAINTED THE SAME.
IT HAS SCRATCHES, SCRAPES, CHIPS ETC FROM MANY YEARS OF USE SINCE THEN.
A BUFF, POLISH, WAX AND SOME TOUCH UP PAINT COULD MAKE IT VERY NICE.
IT HAS REPLACEMENT FIBERGLASS FENDERS AND THE FLOOR PAN WAS PATCHED. THE LOWER DRIVER FENDER GOT LOOSE AT SOME POINT, CAUSING THE DOOR AND FENDER TO BIND, CREATING A SCRAPE THERE - SEE THE CLOSEUP OF THE THAT AREA.
THE INTERIOR WAS REDONE FROM HEADLINER TO CARPET.
THE HEADLINER, DOOR PANELS, SEATS AND DASH ARE STILL IN GREAT CONDITION.
THE CARPET IS FADED. SOME EDGES OF THE DOOR PANELS HAVE BEEN 'GLUED' TO THE DOOR IN SOME PLACES.
ALL THE GLASS IS INTACT AND IN GREAT CONDITION.
(THE DRIVER DOOR WINDOW HAS TROUBLE STAYING ON TRACK WHEN GOING UP AND DOWN)
THE CHROME IS NICE ON THIS CAR WITH ONLY MINOR PITTING IN A COUPLE AREAS - LOWER OUTER GRILLE SURROUNDS, TAILFIN ENDS.
BUMPERS ARE STRAIGHT, SHINY AND IN GREAT CONDITION.
(MINOR BLEMISHES ON LOWER REAR BUMPER TO THE RIGHT OF LICENSE)
THE TRUNK FLOOR IS SOLID AND APPEARS TO BE ORIGINAL.
THE TIRES ARE COKER CLASSICS PURCHASED IN THE 1980s - THEY HAVE SEEN VERY FEW MILES SINCE THEN AND ARE IN GREAT CONDITION - HOWEVER, BIAS PLY TIRES OF THIS AGE SHOULD PROBABLY BE REPLACED IF YOU PLAN ON HIGHWAY DRIVING.
ORIGINAL 'SWEEPSTAKES' 289 V8 WAS REBUILT AT THE TIME OF RESTORATION.
STARTS RIGHT UP. SOUNDS A LITTLE ROUGH. COULD USE A TUNE-UP (WIRES/PLUGS ETC.)
SOUNDS LIKE IT HAS AN EXHAUST LEAK SOMEWHERE UP FRONT.
THIS CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH THE 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND OVERDRIVE.
WHICH IS GREAT FOR KEEPING UP WITH TODAY'S TRAFFIC.
(SHIFTER IS 'ON THE TREE')
THE ODOMETER SHOWS JUST OVER 39,000 MILES. THE 85 YR OLD OWNER SAYS THAT IS ACCURATE.
IT IS NOT INCONCEIVABLE THAT IT COULD BE CORRECT. HOWEVER, THERE WAS SOME DEBATE WITH OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS THAT BELIEVED IT TO BE 139,000.
SO I AM LISTING IT AS 139K, BECAUSE WE HAVE NO DOCUMENTATION TO SUBSTANTIATE EITHER WAY.
PLEASE SEE MANY MORE LARGE FORMAT PICTURES BY CLICKING HEREBUYER WILL NEED TO COME GET IT (IT IS IN MID MINNESOTA 56215)
OR YOU WILL NEED TO HIRE A HAULER.

BUYER HAS 30 DAYS TO PICKUP CAR.
AFTER WHICH, I CHARGE 100.00 PER MONTH STORAGE FEE. (WITH PERMISSION)
500.00 DEPOSIT MADE BY PAYPAL REQUIRED WITHIN 24HRS OF AUCTIONS END. THE REST TO BE PAID WITHIN 7 DAYS.

I JUST REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND IT RUNS MUCH BETTER.
IT WILL STILL NEED TO BE TUNED (TIMING, CARB TWEAKING OR REBUILD)
THE EXHAUST LEAK IS COMING FROM THE LEFT MANIFOLD CONNECTION TO THE PIPE - PROBABLY NEEDS A NEW DONUT GASKET.
