1957 Triumph Other Description

Restored 1957 small-mouth Triumph TR3:

Up for auction is a freshly-restored 1957 TR3, TS 17440 L.This was a California black-plate car last registered in 1980. The car has done less than 100 miles since the restoration was completed.

Frame/chassis:

Body removed from the frame, frame blasted and painted. Front and rear suspension rebuilt with all new bushings and new parts where necessary. Leaf springs rebuilt (Livingston Spring, Fowlerville, MI).New brake and gas lines / hoses, new brakes all round (calipers rebuilt). Two new master cylinders.New handbrake cable. Car converted to 9” rear drums with NOS Girling wheel cylinders.Two-piece steering column installed with all new bearings and seals. New silentblocs and tie rod ends.

New differential pinion and inner hub seals.

Five powder-coated 48-spoke wire wheels.New two-eared spinner knock-offs.

Body:

Rust repair with new metal executed for both rear dog-legs.New rockers. Tub media blasted, sealed and painted before being reunited with the chassis.Professional paint job with “Old English White” base coat / clear coat.

New chrome hinges,chrome beadingand rear over-riders.Original stone guards refurbished and polished.New baffle plates and seals.New keys and locks. New door finishers. Windshield stanchions re-chromed: new glass and seals.

Engine:

TR4A engine (CT 60103E).New 87mm pistons/rings/liners (2197 cc):new trimetal bearings (+20/+20), and engine rebuilt with Viton rear crankcase oil seal conversion. Head restored with hardened valve seats for use with lead-free gasoline. Flywheel resurfaced.New TR4A clutch, pressure plate and throw-out bearing. Rebuilt Girling slave. New high-torque gear reduction starter.Gas tank sealed prior to installation.Carburetors rebuilt and individually polished (Paltech, OH). Replacement gas filter element in addition to original brass screen. Spin-on oil filter adaptor. New 8-bladed fan, fan belt and hoses. New water pump. New exhaust.

TR6all-synchro gearbox and A-type overdrive professionally rebuilt with auto-disengagement button control (Racetorations, Gainsborough, England).Prop shaft balanced and all new U joints (Advantage Driveline, Jackson, MI).

All gauges restored and guaranteed (Nisonger Instruments, NY).

Interior, sidescreens, top:

All new interior, top and sidescreens.New high-quality carpet. Dash covering, cockpit capping, glove box door and interior panels fabricated and upholstered by Learns Upholstery (Indiana, PA)..Restored top bows, new webbing, new Robbins top.Sidescreens restored by Larry Learn. New steering wheel and control head.

Incidental:

New battery - car converted to negative ground. New wiring harnesses throughout.Voltage regulator refurbished with diode modification.New points, rotor, condenser and ignition wires.New rubber seals for air vent and trunk. All other mechanical parts restored (high and low tone horns, fuel pump, generator, dimmer switch, wiper motor).
