This 1974 Triumph TR6 is a factory 4-speed with electric overdrive example previously sold by its original owner whobought it new at a UK British Leyland dealer. It was ordered with US specification in anticipation of hisfamily’s return home, and was imported back to the States in 1977. The car hasbeen maintained with consistent use and63k original miles logged over the years. It has been repainted once in its desirable factory Sapphire Blue and retains its original black vinyl interior. The previous owner has performed muchof maintenance work himself, but sayshe does not drive it much anymore and after 41 years he thinks it’s best to pass it on to the next long-term owner.
Previously the entire car wasrepainted in factory correct Sapphire Blue. Paint still shines nicely with several small chips are evident on the nose and around fender. Some small parking lot door dings are evident and will need work, also there is a dent on the top right wing where something dropped on it whist in storage, though the seller saysthere is nocracked paint. Note theOEM style Michelin redline tires with excellent tread.
The black vinyl interior wasrestored a few years ago with recovered seats, new foam, andnew carpet. Dash trim and wood veneers are all in good condition with somecracking on the glove box. The original radio has been removed, but all otherelectrical accessories work. A new top is in the process of being installed as the top shown is in good condition but had a faded rear window )could bereplaced). Two tonneau covers are also included.
The car is stock with its original engine and drivetrain. Good oil pressure even when hot. The seller has added some minor accessories like new SS wheel trims, chrome headlight rings, chrome carb covers and a brushed aluminum valve cover. A couple years ago the engine was freshened withnew hoses, gaskets and various linkages, though no major engine work has ever been done. Tthis is technically 1974.5 model year, which saw various factory modifications like more vacuum advance, PCV valve, charcoal canister and the famous “baby buggy bumpers.”
The car was Ziebart rust protected from the factory and garaged from new, and the seller considers it totally free of rust. Sale includes original sales documents, owner’s handbook, a shop manual, factory touch-up paint, various gaskets, and carb rebuild kit.
