1958 Austin Healey 100-6 Description

1958 AUSTIN HEALEY 100-6 BN-4 ROADSTER. OLDE ENGLISH WHITE WITH RED TRIM, BLACK TOP. 48-SPOKE WIRE WHEELS. 4-SPEED OVERDRIVE GEARBOX. HEATER. FIXED STEERING WHEEL. VERY DECENT CAR FOR RESTORATION.
Offered for sale from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS is this decent 100-6 BN-4 Sports Roadster. This car was recently purchased from a body shop in Ohio where it sat for many years awaiting refurbishment, with some work done. It is a pretty complete together original car.
The chassis frame on this car is solid for a Healey of this period. The mainrails, outriggers, main floors all appear super solid and original with only some surface rust. There is some rust-through on the LH inner and outer rockers, some on the trunk floor, and a repair patch is needed on the bottom of the LH front fender. The car was undercoated at one point which is now starting to flake off in various places.
The front shroud appears in good shape and is currently in bare aluminum to reveal it's condition. There are a few bumps from underneath that created a few tears, but are easily repairable. The grill fits well and the headlamp areas look good. The hood fits well with good gapping. The rear shroud has sustained some damage at one point in the middle and along the RH side, but could be repaired by an aluminum specialist. The trunk lid looks good. The rest of the panels are in average condition and have had some previous work performed on them, which may help going forward.
The engine for the car is currently stuck from sitting, is the correct 100-6 unit with the desirable full port head, and would most likely need rebuilding. It is complete including generator, carburetor set, starter, engine mounts, radiator, etc. Eveyything that is pictured goes with the car.
Known missing items are the front bumper brackets and the rear back seat wooden squab (both available). The top frame is there along with the front header wood, latches, and finisher. There is also a restorable set of original aluminum sidecurtains with brackets (pictured). There is an important box of all the chrome trinkets, lights, interior knick-knacks, door handles, etc.
Overall, a fairly complete and solid Austin Healey 100-6, 4-seater Roadster for restoration in a very attractive original color scheme. This car has spent a large portion of it's life in a bodyshop waiting to be restored, and is very good value and a good start with strong upside potential. It's the most econmically priced, viable project car currenty available on the market.
