1961 Desoto Adventurer, four door hardtop, automatic, nice southern car
1961 DeSoto Adventurer four dr. hdtop Description
A very rare1961 Desoto four door hardtop, last year for Desoto, a very short run of these before Desoto gave up the market. Only a couple of thousand made from Oct. 1960 to November '60. This is in really good shape! This is a push button automatic three speed transmission on the dash. see photo!! Bizarre!!
A few years ago it had a new upholstery put i, not torn, but showing some age, still looks really good.Hardly any rust! Trunk is solid, dual exhaust sounds really good. Dash is from another world and is incredible. It had factory air, but it and the heater need help. Radio is glowing, but I can't hear anything. All the glass is good. paint is in really good shape. A twenty footer.Runs and drives good. The car is really nice and isn't what you'd call restored, but a really solid, complete car.The 361 cu. in. has been rebuilt the summer and is powerful, with a four barrel carb. manual chokethe gauges all work, wipers work, all head lights, dimmer, orig. turn signals, horns, et, etc.The transmission shifts real smooth, the brakes and emergency brakes work, but I think the booster is bad for the brakes. It can be driven and enjoyed like it is or would be a great one to restore to show quality.Wheels are fairly new custom and tires are all like new. I don't have the orig. wheels or hubcaps, they've never been seen by the previous owner.
A car has so many parts and items to describe, I'll just let you ask me anything you need to know and I'll try very hard to give you a correct answer.I'm not a Desoto genius or car dealer, but I know one end from the other, usually.Call me at 903-926-0941 before 8pm central time or leave message. I'll call back.
I could not get the Ebay form to accept the mileage of 117,00, this is a guess. It still has the original rubber pads on the brakes, gas and emergency pedal, not too worn. I'm guessing fairly low miles and motor was recently rebuilt......FYI
Negatives: pay attention please......Brake booster on power brakes, seems to be gone out.small amounts of rust out, where trunk gaskets would go, see photos. not aware of any other rustchip out of driver's side rear back up light lenstrunk looks good inside, no carpet, might have had a plate screwed in a while back, see photomost chrome is ok, not show quality, the worst fading is on left rear of car, see photothe other back up lens is ok.Both front turn lens are new, and are very nice! I have original trim and clips coming for the back window.Original grill cover over dash for radio is gone Mice ate some of the headliner, see photos, headliner is useable, but not very niceThe handle for the emergency brake broke off, see photo, new ones available for $25+ shippingCall me for more info or questions
