1972 Triumph Spitfire Convertible - Garage Find! No Reserve!
1972 Triumph Spitfire Description
This auction features a "Garage Find" car that has been in dry - mouse free - storage for the past 5 years. It is a Classic 1972 Triumph Spitfire Convertible. The 4 Cylinder Engine is coupled to a 4 Speed Transmission. When I brought the car to my home, I bought a new battery (missing), replaced the alternator (corroded) and siphoned the old gas from the tank. I then put in a couple gallons of fresh gas, pulled out the choke and it started! Therefore, I believe the engine is in good running condition. However, I determined that the car needed a new Slave Cylinder. At this point I decided that I needed to turn the car over to someone with more knowledge and mechanical ability concerning British Cars than I have! (Besides, as you can tell by the photos, I do all my work in the driveway, so if you have a garage, this car is for you!) The front bucket seat needs to be recovered, several snaps on the convertible top and the tonneau cover need to be replaced and there appears to be rod missing from the convertible top assembly. The top, itself, is in good condition for being stored for 5 years, and it mounts to the windshield frame just fine. All the gauges are there and there is a cut-out for a radio but no radio. As for the body, it is in excellent condition with no rust that I can find. There are a couple of small stone chips and a ding or two, but, overall, a really nice body for a 44 year old! I believe that the body was repainted in the original color, or at least in a color that comes very close to the firewall paint that, I believe, is original. Both bumpers chrome is good with only a small ding about the size of a nickel in each one to keep them from being "excellent". Although both side window glasses are in good condition, the windshield does have a scratch in the corner. However, I am including a new (used) replacement windshield with the car. I am not aware of anything else that is wrong with the car and that you will need to attend to. I hope the photos have given you a good visual description of the car. Starting price for this auction is $2,500.00 with No Reserve! At the auction's ending, I request that a $500.00 non-refundable deposit be placed into PayPal within 48 hours of the sale closing. Then, within 7 days, I am asking that you pay the remaining balance either by Cash, PayPal or Bank Transfer. The car must be picked up within 7 days after entire funds have been received.
