WOW !! A Rare and valuable 1960 MORRIS PKUP. I purchased this pkup 10 years ago from the man himself Alven Gissel. I even have his original small postcard sized title that the state returned to me after stamping it for display purposes only ! This truck has all of its original body panels, original suspension, original frame, and original interior. There is no rust repair or rust damage to the vehicle. It still has alot of it's original paint. This is not a restored truck but a very nice example of a true survivor !! I have taken advantage of the fact that this Morris pkup is made at the Morris Garage factory that makes the MG sports cars so I was able to update the powertrain with the latest and most powerful factory engine, a 1275cc unit that interchanged with the original 948cc,to that engine I added a 2 barrel Weber carb and a long branch tubing header. I also went for the MG ribbed cased transmission and larger clutch.You always want the better brakes and they offer a adapter to fit the MG disc brakes so I installed them as well. When I installed the brake kit I also went thru the whole braking system buying and installing all new brake lines, hoses, shoes, pads and hydraulic cylinders. On top of the use of updated factory parts I have also improved the reliabity of the pickup by fitting a 1 wire alternator, a modern fuse panel and a more user friendly heater. I used the truck as a parts and supply chaser i.e. cruiser/grocery getter so I custom built a tubular tonneau cover and had a plasma cut, diamond plate, bolt in insert made for the pickup box. The pickup box interior I may add is nice and solid, the back of the cab is solid with no major dents even the tailgate looks fine. I wanted a truck that would get out of its own way and drive the freeway so I swapped out the original rear gear 3td member for a MG sports car unit (373). The truck will now cruise at 60+ and a number of years ago I flat footed it to 80 ! Every thing works on the truck although the gas gauge is a cantankerous devise !
One of the best thing about this truck is you never have to worry about service or maintenance because ALL the body,mechanical and service parts are readily available, even overnight if you want !!
