1969 Plymouth Road Runner 383 Description

1969 Plymouth Roadrunner
Let me start by saying if you are looking for the perfect numbers matching, frame off nut and bolt restored car to Galen Govier’s standards, this is not that one for you.If you are looking for a car you can actually drive, enjoy, and not worry about so much, this may be a car for your consideration…
This car had been in a collection for while. It is a 383 with an air grabber hood, a 727 torqflite trans, bench seat, finished in F5 green. The restoration was done some time before that. It was done nicely, and the detail work is very nice throughout the car. The body is in nice shape. The paint is nice and doesn't have many imperfections at all, and may not be seen unless pointed out.The car is straight and seems it was prepped properly when painted. there is one spot on the hood in the flat black section where the paint has cracked. The body gaps are all nice and even around the trunk, fenders, and hood. The lower rear of the driver and passenger doors aren't perfect though, they are slightly pulled outward, though it may not even be noticeable to most, I have noticed it, so I want to point it out. The chrome on the bumpers is in very nice shape, and I would rate them an 8.5/10. The window trim and bright work around this car are straight and in excellent shape, free of dings and dents. The front windows go up and down nicely. The rear pop out windows work nicely as well. The door jambs are all clean and free of rust. The front grille is straight and near perfect. The underside is very clean as well, the front floors were replaced at some point and look good, bottom is painted green. The trunk is nice and solid. Trunk has spare tire and trunk mat, but no jack.
The interior was really given some extra love and care, seats were refinished at some point and are in excellent condition, and comfortable. The dash is straight and is free of issues, all the gauges, lenses and switches look good. The radio used to work but stopped working recently, I have not got around to looking into it yet. Carpet is nice and clean, with new floor mats. Headliner doesn't sag or have any issues. The air grabber operates from a lever under the dash. The steering wheel is very nice, but has a common small crack on the rim. Yes, it does “beep beep”and that is the most common question to get while out in this car.
This car runs and drives excellently. A very easy car to hop in and drive down the road. The power steering is very very smooth. The brakes are non power drum brakes, they work fine and stop the car but I could see them strugglingto stop this heavy car in a hard braking situation from high speed. The torqflite 727 goes through the gears smoothly without any issues. I wouldn't hesitate to jump in this car and do a 100 mile trip if I had to. Like I said, a simple, good looking, easy car to drive around town and have fun with.
