2001 Pontiac Grand Am Description

This car is being sold as a project car or for great body parts and engine. It currently will not start.
The body is in very good shape. Paint is pretty decent, with just a little bit of fading here and there. Interior is average at best and needs a good cleaning and has been used by a smoker. It has a moon roof. Tires are pretty worn but will pass inspection. The engine is very strong and runs as it should.
Problem: the car will currently crank but not start. It does appear that the problem is related to the notorious GM "passlock sensor" fail problem. The car has off and on again had this problem. The passlock sensor in the ignition switch "senses" that something is out of order and the Security system shuts down the car's ability to start. This is accomplished by shutting electric power to the fuel injectors. There is a method to override this "fail" and cause the car to "relearn" and reset. It involves turning the key into the "on" position for 10 minutes, then turning it off. This usually resets the system and the car then cranks up. About a month ago this relearn method no longer worked. I don't have the money to put this in the shop and let them figure it out. There is a lot of info online about this problem. Google it if you're at all interested.
Another problem: before the car quit starting, there was some slippage in the torque converter. The transmission still shifted thru the gears fine, but if you pushed it too hard the TC would badly slip. So that definitely needs to be fixed as well.
The car still looks nice (see pics) and for someone who knows how to deal with these two issues it could be a great fixer-upper. Or for someone looking for some straight and rust-free body parts. Or for someone needing some great body parts or an engine.
