2001 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 Description

This has been a great car. It's actually my 2nd Grand Am GT. I have a '99 (bonus section below) and I liked it so much that I bought another one. I think it's a comfortable, easy car to drive and I'm sad to see it go.

The Good - It runs and drives. I think with a little TLC this car should be fine to drivefor at least awhile) - No dash lights are on (somewhat rare for a higher mileage Grand Am) - The interior is pretty nice for the most part. +Brand new battery - At ~160,000 miles, the car started to overheat on the freeway. I was able to get it to a shop before anything bad happened. Unfortunately the mechanic blew the head gasket while troubleshooting and I got to pay for it. Between that and otherknown issues that occur on high mileage Grand Ams, I have replaced the: +Fan switch + Oil Pressure switch +Oil Sending unit +Head Gasket - Proper machine work was done on the heads + LIM Gasket +Lifters +CV Joints +Wheel bearings +Fuel injectors +Coil Packs +Plugs/Wires +Camshaft Position Sensor +Serpentine Belt+ o2 sensors+ Catalytic Converter

- I have receipts/paperwork for most, if not all of this stuff... if you're into that sorta thing.
TheNotQuiteAsGood - After replacing all that stuff and having a great running car, some moron deer decided step out in front of traffic about 4,000 miles ago. I hit the brakes butwas still going ~15mph when I hit it. I was able to drive it home without any issues. Some plastic stuff broke though, including most of the press pin tab things that hold the front bumper cover on. I zip-tied it back on and it's been fine since then. One of the foglights is gone, and I think some of the plastic ram air duct broke off as well. Part of the splash guard is hanging down, so it will scrape if when you turn out of steep driveways or hit a dip in the road. I'm sure it just needs to be tucked back in somewhere but I don't have the energy to mess with it. The headlights are also loose, so you have to nudge them back in straight sometimes. I'm sure a more permanent fix would be pretty simple. The car has driven fine for the last 4,000 miles. No puddles, overheating, strange noises that I've ever noticed since the deer incident. That said, I can't make any guarantees. I'm justa random Grand Am owner, not a mechanic. - The paint is faded and pretty worn in certain spots from the sun (common Grand Am issue) - The edges of thedash are curled in certain spots from the sun (common Grand Am issue) - Someone knocked the passenger side mirror off. I JB welded it back on, hence the JB weld holding the mirror on. - The clicking sound that the blinker makes will randomly click sometimes. You'll probably stop noticing it after a few days like I did. If I remember correctly, the multi-function relay behind the radio just needs to be cleaned with electrical contact cleaner (common Grand Am issue) - Sometimes thedisplay on the radio looks good and clear, but sometimes it will show bits and pieces that look like some kind of alien language. I think I read that the solder dries out and cracks in the radio, leading to this issue. Sometimes the display will be nice and clear for days at a time, and sometimes it won't be. There are a few different DIY fixes online if you care enough. The radio/tape/cd player works fine though (using the steering wheel controls) so it's never been a problem for me. Sometimes you can fix it by flicking the display a few times. Sometimes you just hurt your finger for nothing(common Grand Am issue) - The driver's side powerwindow is prettytired, andneeds helpmoving thatlast inch when you roll it up. - It needs anoil change
- I'll update this if I can think of anything else. I just drove it around the block and didn't notice anything other than the brake pedal needed to be pressed a little harder, I'm assuming because the car hasn't moved in a month. That said,I think it's possibly time for some new brakes? *** The buy it now BONUS *** - If you choose buy it now, I'll include my other Grand Am GT for parts or to fix and drive!

+ It's a Black 1999 Grand Am GT coupe just like the 2001 except it's not a "GT1" andit has cloth seats, which I think are much more comfortable than the leather ones in the 2001.. just sayin. Some of the paint/interior/exterior parts are in better shape than they are on the 2001, so you can swap parts if you want and sell whatever is left. Title is clean of course.

- The '99 parts car has ablown head gasket, the gas gauge float is borked so once you get to ~1/4 tank the needle just casually goes all the way back up to Full, the catalytic converter flexpipe rusted and is laying under the car right now, and probably a handful of other random issues Imay haveforgottenbecause it's been sitting for a year and a half. Obviously it's not driveable right now, and it also needs a good cleaning. I think* it has ~180,000 miles on it but I honestly don't remember and I don't feel like charging the battery to check.. unless you reeeally care that much and insist that I go check. My loss is your gain, or whatever.
