1980 Pontiac Firebird
1980 Pontiac Firebird Description
Selling my 1980 Firebird. The car was originally a 301, but was recently converted to a 350 Pontiac. The engine I used was a 1971 350 out of a Lemans, a lot of work was done before engine was installed. I stuck with the pontiac v8 because I am a bit of a pontiac nut . First off I replaced the main bearing, rod bearings, cam, lifters. For the cam I chose a .067 cam to wake the 350 up a bit, next I replaced the timing chain and gears, pulled the head, lapped the valves, replaced valve seals, installed a new sealed power oil pump, new oil pan, converted the 350 to electronic ignition, changed it over to a four barrel intake, installed a new (reman) quadrajet carb, re gasketed the engin, spark plugs, oil change, fluids, and a new starter.(radiator is also newer as are belts and water pump).
As for the chasis I replaced the front coil springs, all 4 shock, front rotors and pads, ignition switch, key and tumble, and all new dual exhaust from the manifolds back, new rear differential cover and fluid, and fresh trans fluid . The doors are have no sag, and the weather stripping is good.
As for the bad, the headliner is off,but the backer is up and in good shape, the fuel gauge work, but a quarter tank means empty (good to know!), some surface rust on rims but not bad, a few scratches in paint as shown in pics, 2 small holes in floor pans, and a tire plug in the right rear tire, does not leak or any thing but thought I should say. Well good luck and happy bidding. By the way this car sounds AWESOME!
Also firebird, not trans am
