1972 Pontiac Firebird with Formula 400 ram-air hood Description

1972 Pontiac Firebird set-up to look like a Formula 400 selling at "No Reserve" My buddy and I recently purchased this sweet 1972 Pontiac Firebird with the cool dual snorkeled hood from a gentleman with a seven figure home in the western suburbs of Chicago. This Red Bird was well cared for and originally came from West Virginia where it was previously titled before coming to the Midwest. Therefore this body had never seen the snow and salt of the brutal winters we have in this area of the country. If you simply double click on the main picture of the auction page then all 24 pictures will be able to be viewed in the larger size by clicking the arrows on each side of the larger pictures. This is the first time this awesome Pontiac has been offered to the public on eBay. We will explain everything we found out from the previous owner at the point of purchase. The prior owner said this original numbers matching engine was completely rebuilt at a price tag in excess of $2500. There was a new Edelbrock Pontiac Performer high performance aluminum intake manifold installed at the time of the rebuild to increase the horsepower. The other new components include a freshly rebuilt carburetor, new water pump, newer radiator, new air cleaner, new hoses, and all new belts. There is a brand new set of four wheel opening moldings that were just installed this week. This Firebird starts right up with a new Nascar Exide battery and drives great. There was a new power brake booster and master cylinder installed, so the brakes stop very well. The engine has less than 1000 miles since the rebuild with all new head gaskets and valve cover gaskets. This sporty muscle car sounds incredible with a newer dual Flowmaster exhaust system. The dual chrome exhaust tips are correct for the Formula and TransAm models, and come out in the proper spots behind the rear wheel wells on each side. The front bucket seats were recently reupholstered with new padding, so they're very comfortable and will look nice for many years to come. Both front seat belts are still set up to really belt you in the front bucket seats on each side. That's why two female seat belts are on each bucket seat. One is for the shoulder belt and one is for the lap belt. Both rear seat belts are also in place. New black carpeting was installed at the time the front buckets were redone. The headliner is new and the rest of the interior looks in very nice condition as shown in the pictures with a brand new set of four black carpeted floor mats. There is an AM/FM Cassette Stereo player does turn on, although no sound comes out of the speakers. The stereo system will have to be addressed by the new owner. The factory options include power steering, power disc brakes, sport mirrors, rally wheels, and air conditioning. The air conditioning compressor is missing, but the spare parts are included in the trunk. I didn't see any evidence of this car ever being involved in any accidents. This Firebird has nice drivers quality paint. There were some minor touch-ups done to the body with a fine line brush to make it appear as best as it could be for the pictures. All of the pictures were taken today, so this Firebird looks exactly like the pictures. With the fresh engine rebuild and all the new components on this Firebird it should provide for many years of excitement. This Firebird rides on a nice set of four Goodyear Nascar Eagle #1 raised yellow lettered tires on four 15" inch Pontiac rally wheels with all four PMD center caps and all four beauty trim rings. The floors and frame look to be all original and in good condition. This car previously had rear window louvers as evident from the clips around the back window. We left the mounts on the car in case the new owner would like to locate some rear window louvers they should mount right on. The trunk floor is also in good condition and was coated with AC Delco black and aqua spatter spray to make it appear factory correct. There is a nicely detailed original jack, jack stand and crow bar. The trunk also carries a full size rally wheel spare in case there is a mishap on the road. That way this Firebird can be back on the road in minutes looking complete. This Bird comes with the 160 m.p.h. speedometer. We were told the current odometer reading at just over 44,000 miles is believed to be original, but we have no way to verify that statement to be factual. The majority of states on all vehicles over 10 years old do not show the mileage on fresh titles nowadays. We're selling this Firebird with an open, clean, and clear title that has the odometer reading as exempt on the current title that was issued in the State of Wisconsin. Why not make your money work for you while you enjoy yourself. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide that anyone can look up on-line has the 1972 Pontiac Firebird with air conditioning and rally wheels valued at $42,750 in high condition, which theyconsider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. $22,375 in average condition, which theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a20-Footer! The numbers don't lie!
