Owned by a 75 year old lady since new prior to my ownership - she surprising pampered this car very well. The original owner is the president of a big corporation and owns multiple company branches throughout the United States. She had originally registered the car under her business, later under her personal name, and then moved the car from Virginia to Michigan which is why autocheck calculates there to be 4 owners as opposed to 2, probably because it was registered several times under different states. .
Very rare early 1998 model. Build date is 8/97 which was the very beginning of production. The earliest LS1 Trans Ams came with 97/LT1 style headrests, blue mirrors, indented steering wheel controls, C5 cam (there was a shortage of LS1 cams when these cars started production, so they borrowed cams from the C5 production line for a few weeks). This is the best LS1 you can buy as it is not plagued with roof bubbling issues and door panel cracking like pretty much all 98-02 camaros and firebirds all have - this is because GM borrowed left over interior from the LT1 production until early 1998 which used a tougher ABS mold, and also no roof bubbling because they did not change the procedure of roof installation until May 1998. When they changed the way they were installed, they stopped spraying the underside of the roof panels before install and used a different adhesive to save on costs. Because of this, heat causes a chemical reaction with the adhesive and is allowed to bubble up through the roof panel because there is no primer under it to protect it.
Pictures just don't do enough justice for this car and how clean it is. It looks and drives like it just left the showroom with the exception of a few very very minor rock chips and surface scratches. No stories with this car - This is a true gem, a great HONEST car and surely will become even more highly collectible over time and the most highly desired LS1 you will find. I encourage anyone interested to come see this car in person if able to - you wont believe how clean and original it is.
