TheWS6/W72 combination quickly established the 1978Trans Am as the "King of the Hill".
Magazines loved the car and the spring 1978 issue of Road Test magazine squared off a Z28, a Corvette, and a Trans Am in a street fight.
The T/A was clearly chosen as the easiest car to drive fast.
Now is the time to buy, they have just started to command the attention and price and will go up from here.
Up for auction is a Documented 1978 WS6/W72 Four speed, Hurst T-Tops, Solar Gold with Camel Lombardy Cloth Interior and manual windows. This was theproduction hot rodcombination in 1978 with a extra 40hp over the normal T/As. The Hurst tops was changed to fisher tops early in 1978 so production numbers will be lower for these.
I have the build sheet, both the Sales Order Sheet ( when he special ordered the car ) and the Sales Deal Invoice from the original selling Dealer, Owners Manual and Warranty Information Booklet.
Now info on T/As condition.
The car is unrestored.
Paint is original except for drivers quarter panel. ( Dent repair along time ago. Paint is a few shades off and showing age)There are door dings on both doors, the doors open a shut very well ( no usual sag), bottom of fenders and rear flares have rock pecks. The T/A does not look bad for a 40 year old car. ( see Photos)
Interior is original except for new carpet was installed, Dash is very nice ( No Cracks. See photo) Seats and Door panels are still Driver quality with normal wear but no Tears, Headliner is starting to fall in some places,( I have a new one Still in the box that will go with the car.), All the glass is in good shape, Missing console.
Engine was rebuilt less than 2000 miles ago, New Clutch and Pressure Plate, New Elderbrock Carb. I have the A/C Compressor and Brackets but are not installed, Also missing thebreather.
Body is a fairly solid car with just a few exceptions, small rust spot on corner of dash(see photo) and rear panel under rear bumper(see photo). I am posting several photos of floors, rockers, trunk, Around T-Tops, Inside rear Quarters, and rear window area.
Tires are in good shape (see photo)
