1975 Pontiac Trans Am Description

I PURCHASED THIS CARFROMTHE BANK A FEW YEARS AGO.. IT WAS A VERY NICE CLEAN RUST-FREE CAR,AND HAD A LOT OF MODIFICATIONS ALREADY DONE TO IT.

I HAVE BEEN DOING AUTO BODY WORK IN THE GRANBURY AREA SINCE 1967.. MY AUTO BODY SHOP HASBUILTMANY RACE CARS AND SHOW CARS. WE HAVE TAKEN THIS CARTOTALLYAPART FROM TOP TO BOTTOM.THERE IS TOO MUCH TO LIST BUT I WILL BREAK IT DOWN THE BEST THAT I CAN. THIS CAR HAS BEEN DRIVENAPPROXIMATELY10 MILES SINCE BUILT. THE ENGINE SHORT BLOCK IS STILL IN THEMACHINE SHOP BUT THAT’S ANOTHER STORY.

FRONT SUSPENSION

ALL NEW CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS, NEW IDLER ARM NEW TIE ROD ENDS ETC. THE CUSTOM STEERING GEAR BOX WAS ALREADY ON THE CAR.

BRAKES

FOUR WHEEL DISK WITH CUSTOMROTTERSAND AEROSPACE ALUMINUMCALIBERS,WHICHI RECENTLY SENT BACK TO AERO SPACE AND HAD COMPLETELY REBUILT. ALSO ALL NEW BRAKE LINES. NEW MASTERCYLINDERAND POWERBRAKE BOOSTER.

COOLING

NEW ALUMINUM RADIATORWITHTWO NEW ALUMINUM COOLING FANS AND NEWUPPER AND LOWER RADIATOR HOSES.

DRIVE SHAFT

THIS IS A CUSTOM SHAFT WITH ALL NEW U JOINTS.. THIS CAR ALSO HAS A DRIVE SHAFT SAFETY LOOP.

REAR END

THIS IS A DANA 60 WITH CALTRAC BARSUSPENSION, 355 GEARS AND A FULL SPOOL, AND ALSO ALUMINUMINSPECTIONCOVER AND STRANGEADJUSTABLEREAR SHOCKS. CUSTOMRACING AXLES ALSO. WE INSTALLED ALL NEW SEALS.

EXHAUST

TWO SETS OF NEW HOOKER HEADERS, PRO AND STREET.

3"FLOW-MASTERSMUFFLERS AND 3" CUSTOM EXHAUST.

BODY

THE BODY IS ALL STEEL EXCEPT FOR THE ALL FIBERGLASS FRONT BUMPER AND FIBERGLASS REAR BUMPER. I FIND THESE TO BE MUCH MOR DESIRABLE THAN THE OEM, THEY ARE NOT ONLY MUCH LIGHTER BUT THEY DON’T CRACK AND SPIDERWEB LIKE THE OEMS.

INTERIOR

WE COMPLETELY REMOVED THE DASH AND INSTALLED NEW CUSTOM GAUGES AND AIRCRAFT SWITCHES. THE REST OF THE INTERIOR IS PRETTY MUCH STOCK EXCEPT FOR THEROLL CAGE, RACING SEATS, SEAT BELTS AND CUSTOM SHIFTER.

FUEL SYSTEM

FUEL CELL’S IN THE REAR, THEN A SINGLE HOLLY FUEL PUMP, THEN TO A FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR MOUNTED ON THE FIREWALL. ALL OF THE FUEL LINES AND FITTINGS ARE NEW . BLUE 1/2 INCH 300 PSI HOSES CONNECTED WITH PUSH ON SPR RACING FITTINGS.

PAINT

WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CAR IT WAS RED WITH THE NORMAL BLACK FIREWALL AND INNER FENDERS. THE BODY WAS IN REAL NICE SHAPE WITH NO RUST OR DENTS JUST THE USUAL DOOR DINGS AND CRACKS IN THE BUMPERS THAT I REPLACED.

WE REPAIRED ALL THE DINGS AND SPENT MANY HOURS ON THE PAINT JOB.

AT MY SHOP THIS PAINT WORK AND DECALS WOULD COST APROX $12,000.00

WE ALSO REMOVED THESUB-FRAMEINNER FENDERS AND RAID SUPPORT HAD THEMSANDBLASTED AND PAINTED.

THESE ARE WELD RACING WHEELS. FRONT TIRES GOODRICH P215/70R15'S REAR TIRES, ET STREETS 28X12.5-15LT'S

THE CAR HAS A NOS BOTTLE MOUNTED IN THE TRUNK AND STEEL BEADED LINES FROM THE BOTTLE TO THE CARB AREA.

THE STORY ABOUT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION!

THE TRANSMISSION IS A 400 TURBO WITH AN APPROX 3500 STALL CONVERTER. I TOOK THE TRANSMISSION TO A WELL KNOWN TRANSMISSION SHOP, HERE IN TOWN, FOR A COMPLETE REBUILD. THEY TOLD ME THE CASE HAD BEEN CRACKED, AND HAD BEEN REPAIRED.. SO I INFORMED THEM TO GET ANOTHER CASE.. EASY ENOUGH RIGHT!!!!

WHEN I GOT MY TRANSMISSION BACK, AFTER PAYING THEM, THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE CASE.. SO WHEN I INSTALLED IT IN THE CAR AND CRANKED THE ENGINE, IT DID NOT WORK.

I WENT OUT AND PURCHASED ANOTHER GOOD USED TRANSMISSION, SO NOW I HAVE TWO TRANSMISSIONS AND ENOUGH PARTS TO BUILD A GOOD ONE.

THE ENGINE

THE ENGINE THAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURE IS THE SAME ENGINE THAT I STILL HAVE. THIS WAS A CUSTOM BUILT ENGINE BUILT BY BETTER PERFORMANCE PONTIAC ENGINES. AGAIN I TOOK MY ALUMINUM RODDED, STROKER ROLLER CAMMED SHORTBLOCK ALONG WITH MY FLUID DAMPNER,TO A LOCAL MACHINE SHOP….. WELL GUESS WHAT!!!! THE MACHINE SHOP BURNED DOWN ALONG WITH MY SHORT BLOCK FLUID DAMPTNER AND TCI FLYWHEEL. I STILL HAVE THE ELDEBROCK PERFORMER RPM ALUMINUM HEADS WITH ROLLER ROCKERS AND LIFTERS, ELDEBROCK VICTOR ALUMINUM INTAKE WITH REBUILT HOLLY CARB, ALUMINUM VALVE COVER AND ALL THE ALUMINUM PULLIES, ALUMINUM LIFTER VALLEY PAN, CUSTOM RACING OIL PAN, A NEW FUEL PUM, AND NEW JEGS PRO STARTER ETC.

I HAVE PURCHASED ANOTHER 1975 400 SHORTBLOCK AND IT HAS BEEN TAKEN APART AND VATTED BUT STILL WILL NEED REBUILDING.

NEEDLESS TO SAY ALTHOUGH EVERY PART ON THIS CAR IS NOT BRAND KNEW.. MANY OF THE PARTS ARE ..OR HAVE BEEN REBUILT. WE HAVE SPENT A TON OF TIME AND MONEY ON THIS CAR IT REALLY IS AN AWESOME CAR . I HAVE OTHER PROJECTS IM WORKING ON AND IM READY FOR THIS ONE TO GO.
