2006 Porsche Cayman S Hatchback 2-Door Description

.I purchased this Cayman in stock form about 6 months ago. It needed suspension and brakes but I decided to make a few improvements while I was at it...
This Cayman S is in what I would call refurbished condition and now it is the car Porsche should have shipped in the first place.
While I love the car my situation has changed and I don't need it where I'm going. So my research, investment, and efforts are your gain.

Condition
Overall excellent condition with typical interior and exterior wear for a 10-year-old vehicle. Small chips/stars in windshield as expected for 10-year-old vehicle. Minor curb rash on two wheels (before my time, one front, one rear, see pics). Minor rash on driver’s seat (my fault, could be touched up, see pics). Needs a second key. It passes detailed mechanical inspection and shows no signs of abuse, water intrusion, electrical, or other problems. I’ve put about 3000 miles on it since project completion so it’s all been well-tested.
Drives perfectly in every way and I'm confident stated top speed (157 mph) is easily reached if desired. I have felt no need to push it past 130 (perfectly stable with no vibrations) and it cruises happily at 93-94. I (mostly) drive it like an adult and have no way of reliably clocking acceleration times but it's quicker than stock numbers (4.8 sec 0-60 and standing 1/4 in13.3 seconds). This car’s documentation indicates it spent most of its life around Brownsville and southern Texas so it has had little exposure to moisture, and no exposure to salt. Bottom is clean with no evidence of having been bounced off a speed bump or whatever. It also appears to have a good service history and to have been rather gently driven by previous owners. Documentation says there was some minor damage in 2011 but it was evidently repaired correctly as I can't see anything wrong.
Previews
This vehicle is located in the Spring area of Houston. For serious prospective buyer I will present the vehicle for in-person inspection in a public place following a phone call to discuss. No tire-kicking, please. This vehicle is exactly as represented, warts and all. I think it's worth more than I'm asking but serious offers from qualified buyers will be considered.
Financing
The car is financed through Pentagon Federal Credit Union at 2.99% (PenFed.org). They lent me $25k in March so you can probably get a good deal on financing. Anyone can join for a small fee/donation and if you finance through PenFed then we should be able to do the whole transaction with minimal fuss.

  • I bought new plugs but current ones appear new so I left them alone

Suspension and Brakes
  • Bilstein and Eibach B12 Shock and Coil Spring kit (pn 46-190697)
  • Eibach Wheel Spacers (7mm front and 15mm rear, came with shiny new wheel bolts so that was a nice bonus)

  • Whatever else I find that is associated with the car

What Is Needed (or what I’d change):
  • If I were keeping her then a set of Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires would be on my short list. They’re so far superior to anything else that it is hard to overstate the improvement this should make. (Local Porsche dealer is a TireRack partner and told me they can match or beat TireRack’s price of $1,447 - and do be sure to have them road force balanced, see motorweek.org/features/goss_garage/road_force_balancing)
  • I only received 1 key and the remote doesn’t function so a second new key would be a good idea. Maybe the remote can be made to work but I haven't figured it out.
  • Porsche is known for some eccentricities and this model is no exception. When the battery runs dead the HomeLink transmitter and seat heaters become inoperative. The corrective procedure is a dealer-only process. Service department says this should be able to be performed at same time as new key is programmed without additional charge.
  • Backup camera and iPod/iPhone connector need to be connected to the head unit. (I’ll get around to this eventually but right now it’s an outstanding item so I include it here.)
