1985 Porsche 928 s
1985 Porsche 928 Description
I am selling a 1985 Porsche 928S. I purchased the vehicle on Ebay and unfortunately I was expecting a car with less needed TLC. Here's what I know about the car as I have only driven it around the block a few times to keep battery charged. The car runs and starts up. Brake pad are worn and one of the rear struts/shock is in need of replacement (contrary to what was listed on Ebay). It is silver, but has been repainted. Paint job not the best, and if I was going to keep it I would have it repainted. It needs trim on the rear hatch and the rear spoiler is missing two of the side spoilers that meet to the larger one. Not a big deal but wanted to point out. (see pics). The hood release works but hanging off the side and needs to be remounted. The AC does not blow cold and when I bought it, it came with a used compressor (spare). Not sure if it works or not as the prior seller didn't mention it in the ad.The oil pressure and temp gauge do not work. Gas gauge seems to works. Engine fan seems to come on as needed (looks like a workaround sensor was added). The interior is not bad but driver's leather seat looks like it may have been dyed. Passenger seat is good with no tears. Rear seats are good with no tears but leather is a bit tough.
There are some cracks on the dashboard as expected for a car this old.
The previous owner indicated "drivetrain runs strong", and conveyed he drove the car around town.
I have limited driving the car for the following reasons:
1. not sure when the timing and water pump were last replaced. Belt tensioner light comes on when driving and therefore not taking the risk to drive it until replaced.
Front lights work fine and pop up as they should. Windows roll up and down but a little sluggish. Sunroof seems to open and close fine.Lower part of front bumper lip is missing. Battery does not hold charge.Other issues are primarily smaller items which one can do on his own. I just don't have the time and would just as well spend $12K - 14K and get one that is in great condition, assuming I can even get one for that price in great condition.
Mileage is listed at 116K but I noticed it's not working, previous owner made no mention of that. The title which he never registered showed last mileage at 115.5K.
I have not registered the car, as I wasn't sure whether to keep it or sell it and decided to sell because of other projects I need to finalize.
It's a classic car and still looks good. The 1985 is the year that they went to a 5.0 liter from the 4.7. Was one of the better years for that make according to the mechanic I spoke with.
I don't have to sell it so don't offer or contact me with ridiculous prices.Car sold as is....please ask questions before bidding.
Thank you
