1968 Porsche 911 Description

This solid 1968 911 was meant to be a fun track car / outlaw street car, but the project has stalled. With the prices of these early 911's jumping it was debated whether to continue on the track path or put it back to stock. Too much thinking and not enough doing so now there is no time for either direction.
BODY
  • This 911 was headed in the direction of an RS clone track car. The stock hood was modified and the intention was to add a front mounted oil cooler. There are SC flares welded in the rear and SC fenders mounted up front. The body was prepped and the car painted however there was an issue with the paint so it is not very good. You could sand, polish and finish it as is but I would recommend removing the windshield, quarter windows and repainting it. The pics show some rust. Rest assured this is surface rust only and just need to be prepped and painted.

DRIVE-TRAIN
  • The motor that comes with the car is a 2.7 liter that was rebuilt and installed but never run. It does not come fuel injection or carbs but the buyer will have the opportunity to purchase a newly rebuilt pair of Italian Weber's for $2000.00 or $1500.00 if you prefer to rebuild them yourself. I expect that the engine will be great as the builder (and cars owner) is a well known respected mechanic and engine builder who built this for himself. That said since it never has been run so I personally cannot guarantee it. The trans is the original 901 5 speed and was solid when last run with the original motor.

SUSPENSION
  • The suspension is original and intact. The front and rear wheels are real Fuchs. Rears are 15 x 8 and fronts are 15 x 6.

Interior
  • The front seats are from a later year 911 (74 if I recall). The cage is welded in and very high quality. I don't recall the name but recall it is a well known brand. (May be Matter) There was typical rust on the original package shelf due to the rear windshield leaking so it was cut out and the shop fabricated and welded in a replacement. The intention was to cut a section out and fit it back with fasteners giving easy access to the engine bay. If you are restoring to original this is an easy piece to source and weld in. If you will finish it as intended, I suggest you finish the job as it makes it so much easier to work on the engine.

Glass
  • Includes front and rear windshields, rear quarter windows and door butterfly windows. Roll up door glass is not included at this time. If located it will be included and a note added to the post.

Parts
  • The parts you see in the pictures will come with the car. If anything additional turns up during the auction I will post info and pics if possible.

This is a very good basis for a 911 project. With the typical rust already taken care you should be able to get this on the road pretty quickly and then do some nice upgrades in the future.
Good Luck and Happy Bidding!
