Up for auction is a true barn find that was pulled from southern Utah. This 1972 Saab Sonett is a complete car in non running condition. All the original parts are included with the sale. The body is in good shape and I could not find any soft spots or large cracks anywhere in the fiberglass. The engine appears complete with everything in place including spark plugs. I have not attempted to turn over the engine and I do not plan on doing so. The interior looks to be original and the upholstery if free of any major defects like split seams or tears. The seat belts are original and dated 1971. It has the desirable Soccer ball wheels and they are in great shape. The tires are very old and are dated from the late 1980s.
The driver, passenger, and rear cargo floor pans feel solid through the carpet with the exception of a weak spot on the outer edge of the driver floor pan along the seam. From the under side I cannot see any rotten holes through the floors except along that outer edge of the drivers floor pan, it is rusted through approximately 1/4" wide and 6" long. The rest of the pans feel solid. The under carriage has surface rust but looks intact. From what I can tell it was last registered in Idaho in 1998, I have no other information on registration and the title is clean and clear.
This Sonett is in fair condition and is ready for an easy restoration or just a mechanical freshening and to be driven as is! Don't miss out on a rare deal like this one. The car is located in Salt Lake City Utah. The car cannot be driven but does roll easily. The buyer is responsible for shipping. Delivery to the greater SLC area could be possible depending on location. This car is being sold as-is in non running condition.
