2005 Subaru Legacy Description

This is a very nice car, paint shines beautifully, new Touren aluminum wheels match very well with their slight blue tint. this car is mechanically flawless with new brakes all around, right front cv shaft, new timing belt and all new timing components, and new turbo. this car will also come with a full set of Bridgestone Blizzak snow tires with only one season on them mounted on the original aluminum wheels. Tires on this car are in good shape, with more than 50% life remaining in the tread and showing no sign of uneven wear due to alignment or suspension issues and the car tracks straight down the road. interior is in excellent shape for the year (and for a Subaru) with minimal wear on driver's seat and of course typically the upper wrap on the Momo steering wheel has shrunk very slightly.

If you've read this far here is the story on this car. I bought this car believing it just needed a turbo. As I was working on it I quickly found out it had a jdm ej205 swapped into it, which I wasn't disappointed about, it is a very good engine to swap, but this one had been somewhat haphazardly put in, so I went about the business of correcting the transplant issues, replacing the oil pan, timing belt, thoroughly flushing the engine, and finally replacing the turbo. once I was able to here it run with the exhaust back on it, it had a pretty good piston slap noise once fully warmed up. Sooo... Out came the engine again, and I then replaced the short block with a jdm wrx ej20 semi closed deck, new felpro headgaskets, and new ARP headstuds, and Yahtzee no more piston slap. I drove the car for a little while but wasn't very happy with the performance, seemed like it should be better, Sooo... out came the engine again and I swapped in a full set of stock ej255 camshafts ( stock camshafts for the car and about 1/8 in more lift on the cam lobes), new cam seals, cam pulleys, and new valve cover gaskets. Now I'm REALLY happy with the performance.

This car runs awesome, sounds great, and has been very reliable but unfortunately my strive for mechanical perfection so to speak, I've put way to much money and time into this car and must let it go

This LGT, aside from the engine swap is completely stock. stock exhaust, stock turbo (which is new).,has not been "tuned", and runs stock emissions systems. no check engine lights, no warning lights on, and will pass any state inspection. This a great car for someone who wants to tune and build it, or for someone who just wants to get into nice car and drive as is. all parts are interchangeable with the usdm ej255 and usdm ej205 so future repairs won't be an issue.

Also, please don't think I'm some kid experimenting with Subaru's in back yard. I own and operate a very busy and successful auto repair shop, so I'm an experienced mechanic (we like to be called technicians now, lol) in my middle ages, experimenting with Subaru's in my fully equipped shop. (not really, this isn't my first jdm swap I've had to deal with.) This is one of my personal cars nd I hate sell it, but bills are mounting up, and my wife is pissed I haven't been working on her jdm impreza rally car.

This is not a new car, It does have some very minor scratches/scuffs on bumper cover. it does have a chip in the windshield, not in the line of sight. I will replace the windshieldif the buy it now function is used

If the winning bidder does not want the snow tires and wheel I will make a $300 exception on final price

* I'd like to point out that I also have a 2005 outback xt with an all stock ej255 with a new turbo as well, it's the same car essentially as the legacy with exception of having the stock drivetrain, and let's just say the legacy is much more fun with a lot more of that turbo punch throw you back in the seat feel
