The Good:
Newer Dunlop tires
Timing belt done at about 110k miles along with the water pump and belt tensioner. All genuine Subaru, not the Autozone stuff, not for critical parts like that! Never...
Battery is only a couple years old.
Car not smoked in, I've never wrecked it and doubt anyone else has. (Though I've never run a history report)
I don't own a dog, so no stink, fur, or whatever.
AC works.
Oil always changed between 3500-4500 miles, Valvoline max-life.
Gets decent gas mileage, pretty spot on with EPA ratings.
Clean title in my name, e-titled, so its not in my hand. We'd need to go to the DMV together, or I'll go get a printed copy once there is a bid. Contact me and let me know.
The Bad:
-Trans slips when its cold until the engine warms up, then works fine. Trans fluid/filter has been changed in the past and fluid again fairly recently.
If I let it warm up its fine, otherwise it either shifts late, or stays in first and revs going nowhere fast until it warms up. This needs attention.
-Moon roof works when it wants to, can be closed manually, does not leak
-It may or may not have a tiny external head gasket leak, sometimes it smells like coolant, but the coolant level isn't ever really down, the oil is never contaminated.
-Some drunk backed into the hatch with their monster truck, it still seals and latches, but its dented. The paint has been touched up since the photo to help protect the metal. Not professional, just a coat to cover the metal.
-Rust started in the back wheel wells, no holes that I've noticed yet, but its taking hold.
-Small dents, chips, and dings, normal stuff for a 14 year old car.
-Exhaust is getting a little loud, could use attention.
-Check engine light on most of the time, probably from exhaust, see above.
-ABS light on, brakes seem to work fine, its been on for a few years? I'm not a mechanic maybe a sensor, fuse, or something. ABS does not ever seem to kick in.
-Airbag light comes and goes.
-It drips a few drops of oil from a line that goes to the oil filter mount. Oil level isn't ever really low when I change it, but I stay on top of it.
-Interior has water marks, light stains, and wear.
I purchased this car with 80k on it and have used it as my daily driver for years. Many of the miles are highway, many are my 15 minute commute. I've hauled a lot of stuff in and on it, so the interior isn't perfect. It still looks OK, its not all torn up, but you aren't going to help it or hurt it much.
I just bought a new-to-me Subaru Impreza hatchback, it was time to get something different with a few less miles and a few more technology updates.
The Forester is great for winter driving here in the midwest, I've never been stuck or had traction issues, etc... I'm going to miss the ground clearance this offers over my Impreza.
As stated, the car has some issues, I don't know the extent of them, but all except the transmission have been around for a long time, I've just lived with it I guess. You get to that point where your car is paid off and you don't want to fix every little issue with it. It has potential to live another 170000 miles easily.
Run and driven weekly. Up until a month ago, I was driving it to work and all over. Its not a junk vehicle, it just needs love that I can't give it right now. Priced accordingly, should fall somewhere between fair and good condition. If you are local or know someone in the area and want to check it out, feel free to contact me and we'll set something up.
Pick-up only, can hold for a short time once payment is made. I want the room in my driveway though, so sooner is better. Discuss your plans with me before bidding. Contact me with any questions. Sold as-is. May be listed locally, if it sells, I'll be removing this ad.
