1990 Toyota Land Cruiser HZJ73 Description

This is a rare opportunity to own a cool off-roader that never was sold in the USA. This 1990 two-door HZJ73 Toyota Land Cruiser was never sold at your local dealer. Instead this unique turbodiesel-powered 4x4 offers a unique blend of more modern upgrades to the original tough attitude that's the bedrock of the Land Cruisers iconic image.Let's start with the design: The two-door carries all the distinctive appearance of the four-door Land Cruisers we received in the USA, but this one has amped up the machismo. It starts with the bold chrome bumpers, and there's even a stock mechanical winch within the front one. The wide front fenders are painted the same gunmetal gray as the body, which look much better than Jeep's of the same era. This one even has a removable FRP hardtop like the iconic J40 Land Cruisers. Plus, there's a stepladder to mount your safari supplies on the roof! All of this looks like custom work, but in fact, it came from the factory that way. That means a full parts network available to you, but since so few of these were ever personally imported, you will always be unique wherever you go. There's a lot more unique happening on the inside, too. First of all this is right-hand drive vehicle that was built for the Japanese market and then legally imported via Canada. So, in true Japanese fashion this upper market ZX model has plenty of gadgetry. Sure, you get the standard speedo and tach in the full gauge setup, but when was the last time you saw a factory installed altimeter, interior and exterior thermometers, alarm clock? You can electronically lock the hubs, or even the axels, from behind the wheel just as easily as you can work the upgraded AM/FM/CD/AUX stereo. There's even great anytime features such as power windows, power locks, power mirrors, and ice-cold air conditioning to keep you comfortable even in the great outdoors. Of course, all you really have to do to be impressive is show up at any car show or trail meetup and show off all the original on the Japanese instructions on the (left) passenger side (and you can show them all the original Japanese paperwork and docs, too!)As cool as this 4x4 looks, don't forget that it has to live up to the go-anywhere Land Cruiser name. The capability starts in the engine bay where the 4.2-liter 1HZ diesel motor is the perfect mix of all-out ruggedness and stump-pulling torque. This one has even been given a turbocharger, complete with boost gauge and pyrometer, which is a common upgrade because this million mile engineered engine is rugged enough to handle the nice boost in power. The 70-series took the lessons learned from its famous predecessors to make these virtually indestructible. So that means the suspension has been lifted on Dakar leaf springs. The two-speed transfer case features fully locking electric hubs as well as push button power locking differentials. For those who just want the most unique SUV in the neighborhood, this one feels great on the road with power steering, four-speed automatic transmission w/overdrive, and four-wheel disc brakes. Plus, the recently installed 33x12.50 BF Goodrich All-Terrain KO2 tires live up to their name by working nicely on or off the pavement. You can tell all those FJ Cruiser guys to eat their heart out. This is the 4x4 secret that Toyota Japan tried to keep for themselves, but a very select few trickled into the U.S. so it will be tough for you to find another one of these, especially this nice. That's why we know it will be going soon. The VIN for this vehicle is HZJ730001133. Call today!!!
