1997 Toyota Land Cruiser Base Sport Utility 4-Door Description
Selling my beloved FJ80. Meticulously maintained and cared for. I am a professional paint and body tech. And, work at a car dealership. Here are the details:
I am the 2nd owner since 2010. Never been in a significant accident. Clean Carfax when I bought. I ran another car off the road with it. Put minor scuffs on wheel flares (which are gone now), didn't even break them. Put shallow crease in door from other car's mirror. Had fixed via PDR. Was rear ended once. Replaced rear cross member at body shop. Replaced rear bumper plastics (also gone now). No other damage to rear.
Texas truck since new and it shows. FACTORY LOCKERS. I rhinolinered it myself (not door jambs). I am a professional painter for a Porsche dealership. Coated with Monstaliner black and WWII OD Green for accents. Brand new Lseat.com Burnt Orange leather with Bisque stitching on front seats. 33" BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A II's with 65% tread (new 6/15). Custom off-road tube bumper by Platinum Off-Road (local shop). CDL switch. Flat unknown brand roof rack I bought for $50 and chopped up to be like you see. Never got a chance to finish with it. Comes with 2 keys and 2 working remote fobs. Pioneer Bluetooth radio with 10" sub. A/C blows cold, of course. The CEL is NOT on. And, not just because I cleared it yesterday. Nothing significant wrong with this vehicle. Removed rear bumper plastics because I like how it looks better without them. Plus ground clearance. Threw them out when we moved. No 3rd row seat. Never used it and just took up space. Floor completely covered with FatMat sound deadening. New window tint summer of 2016. Removed cats when one went bad. Homemade O2 sensor simulator. Knockoff flowmaster muffler. Uses about a quart of oil approximately every 4-500 miles. Not leaking on garage floor. Steering box weeping a little at adjustment screw. Have to add p/s fluid every 2-3 months.

On Apr-13-17 at 08:47:55 PDT, seller added the following information: ...adding a note as this auction nears close. When I bought this cruiser in 2010, I didn't really know what I was buying. It came in at a wholesaler I was working for with 149K miles and I was able to pay cash, which was important at the time. I have since learned well that the 80 SERIES Toyota LAND CRUISER is pretty much the ultimate vehicle. Of course, anyone reading this doesn't need to be told that. Or, have explained why it is the ultimate vehicle. It has been an absolutely reliable daily driver and only vehicle for my wife and I for almost 7 years now. We have never done any serious wheeling. Yeah, we've gone out and gotten muddy. After figuring out what this beast is capable of, how could you not? But, going off road with your daily driver and only vehicle is a dangerous game. Even in an 80. I have long dreamed of outfitting my cruiser with all the goodies you need to go off road without the danger of breaking stuff or to get you out of a jam. But, frankly, I can't afford it. To wheel your daily driver it would really need to be built out to the max. Again, if you are reading this, you already know. Now, while I can't really afford to turn this thing into a Monster. I can afford to keep up with all the little things that go wrong with a 20 year old vehicle. Even an 80. Especially working at car dealerships have I been able to afford this. Many of the repairs I've done I've just paid one of the techs cash to do. This is much cheaper than retail price on the service drive at the Toyota dealership. Smaller stuff I have been able to do myself. A few maintenance and repairs I've had done at the dealer, which I work right next door to. (Toyota of Plano)I certainly buy all my parts there. At least since cruiserdan retired. The point is I have spent the $ to keep the original vehicle in very good working order. That said, it is time to pass my 80 along to a gentleman (or lady)who will make it a Land CRUSHER. We are going to buy a new 4runner. Now have the credit to do so. Also, want to take more road trips. If you have any questions, please feel free to text me at 214/564-7888 with your first name and I will call you back. NOTE ABOUT HEAD GASKET/ENGINE TOP END: I run premium fuel to keep it from spark knocking at low rpm. It has been doing this since I bought it at 149K. I have now put 100K miles on it like that. There is some carbon in the combustion chambers. I have often considered having the top end of the engine gone through. But, nothing has changed with the spark knocking and preventing it with premium in 7 years and 100K miles sooo... (for the final time, if you are reading this, you know what I'm talking about and what it means) THANK YOU VERY MUCH CRUISERHEADS FOR HAVING ME IN YOUR EXCLUSIVE CIRCLE FOR 7 YEARS! HAPPY CRUISING TO YOU ALL! CHEERS!!!
