Description:

I’m happy to offer for sale this Iconic 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62. It came from the factory in Gold exterior with a Beige/Brown interior. Mostly original paint that presents itself exceptionally well. This truck is mechanically sound, a testament to Toyota’s reliability. With 193,270 on the clock the engine fires up right away and 4WD works perfectly. The auto transmission is in great working order. This particular truck has spent its life in the high mountain dry air of Montana. That is a benefit to the rust prone sheet metal of the early 80's Japanese vehicles. The FJ62 features fuel-injection, automatic transmission, and power windows and door locks. The easiest way to distinguish between the two are the square headlights in the FJ62 as opposed to the rounded oneon an FJ60.

The Condition and Service:

Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:

-ENGINE

This engine has great miles for the year, 193.270 miles appear on the odometer. It evident it was routinely oil changed and serviced right when you start it up. No knocks, or weird sounds. It was driven and enjoyed as it should be, but being owned by someone who wanted to enjoy it for decades. The 4.0L I6 motor is very healthy and has loads of smooth power!

-TRANSAXLE

The 4 speed automatic transmission is in great shape. No slipping of gears or surprises.

-SUSPENSION

Nice riding truck, nothing clunking itself apart like many of them and Toyota comfortable.

-BRAKES

Good pedal, pad and rotors have good life in both front and rear.

-STEERING

Classic Toyota truck steering feels great, no excessive play or vibrations.

Let's continue to the exterior:

-PAINT and BODY

The body is about as straight as you can get on an original truck this old. The paint is fairly nice! It is a 7 out of 10. Overall shiny Toyota Gold paint which looks quite nice. No signs of a bondo job or accidents. Nice for an original paint car, its only flaws come in the form of a couple minor dings/scratches etc, some sand blasting near the tires, some chips etc, and general wear of a well taken care of TLC. NO RUST! The rocker panels, wheel wells and other vulnerable areas, where you will commonly find rust eating away at the body, are rust free.Good floors from underneath, some light oxidation underneath on suspension components as per typical of all cars. This car presents as an “extra clean driver” cosmetically, but really looks quite nice none the less.

-WHEELS/TIRES

Tires have loads of tread and are newer. Wheels are in excellent shape - no major flaws.

BUMPERS and BRIGHT WORK

The bumpers are in nice shape! No major dents, cracks or issues! Some minor dings, and typical truck wear.

Onto the cabin:

-SEATS

The brown/beige seats are supportive, with great bolstering. The drivers seat has a common tear on the bottom seat cushion (check pictures). They have some fabric tears as seen in the pictures, and have been under covers for some time, but the covers were removed to show the true shape of the seats. The rears are in very nice shape! Don't let the minor tears distract from the interior, overall it is quite nice, especially for a 28 year old car!

-DASHBOARD/PACKAGE TRAY

Nice shape, no major flaws, original tape deck. The tray is in great shape and is clean.

-DOOR PANELS

Nice panels, All present themselves well.

-CARPET

Carpet is original and clean and no major tears. Minor stains for a 190k vehicle.

-WINDOWS

All power windows roll down and up with no issues. Good tracks and no dead rollers.

-GAUGES

All the gauges work! Speedo, odo, temp and gas.

-HEADLINER

The headliner is clean, no tears, just a few minor stains which is common for it’s age.

The Experience

Driving this Toyota is fantastic.Right away you will appreciate Toyota’s all-function, no-form ethos and the truck’s boxy, utilitarian appearance. It’spurposeful, yet classy while beingruggedly handsome like the marlboro man.You sit high and comfortable with great outward vision. It's right at home cruising around town running errands as it is in driving through Baja with your buddies. It really doesn't get much better in a classic FJ62 Land Cruiser! I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and beautiful Land Cruiser. This truck would make an excellent candidate for a clean daily driver or just order an Old Man Emu catalog and go pound the trails. Beautiful classic design andimmenseoff roadcapabilitiesmake these classics that are Guaranteedto Appreciate! Get them while they are Affordable.

Treat them well and keep up on basic maintenance and they will love you back! Don't spend big money on a truck from a "turn-em-and-burn-em" style dealer when all they do to promote the truck is say a few things they think people like to hear. As you may tell from my ad, I know the care that these trucks need and the details that make them tier 1, from a tier 2 or worse and I hope to have addressed them to those of you that know as well. If an ad says "Low miles and well cared for" Ask questions! If you don't get thorough, well addressed answers, start planning more money and more aspirin. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION! This truck is ready to go live another 150k+++ miles of beautiful, reliable, enjoyed life in your hands.
