2001 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner Description

The truck was purchased as a secondary vehicle, just over one year ago (04/13/16) with 87k original miles. I needed a source of transportation that would allow me to take my mountain bike to the trails and the occasional Home Depot run on weekends. Not requiring anything new and always being a fan of the 01-04 body style and front-end, I bought one in great condition and used it as a base for some "light restoration" and customization along the way. The odometer currently reads 92k which in Tacoma terms... that means it's barely broken in.

Due to workload, I didn't actually get to the restoration until the fall and upon completion, my vehicle needs changed all together. Specifically, I'm needing a full-size truck for both, capacity and ongoing towing duties. I have to sell the Tacoma.

I'm 41, it's adult owned, garage kept and always maintains a near show quality detail. The truck is immaculately clean inside, outside and underneath. Everything works as it should and runs flawlessly.

From a maintenance standpoint, the only item(s) I've had to address were some worn steering components and new tires. Within the last week the spark plugs, plug wires and oil have been changed. I didn't realize until today that the inspection was out and will take care of that before the auction is up.

Countless hours and dollars have been spent on making this truck look the way it does. I've set up a webpage to act as a build sheet for work that's gone into it from a customization and restoration standpoint. You can view the details here.

Additionally, I've added 150 photos below. The photos were taken on the morning of 5/7 (date of posting).

Work I've done includes but not limited to:
Upper and lower ball joints, inner and outer tie-rod ends, SPC Light Racing upper control arms, Old Man Emu (OME) struts, shocks and coil springs, .25 top plate coil spring spacer, Deaver add-a-leaf, ToyTec heavy duty adjustable shackles, Method NV 16x8 wheels, Atturo Trail Blade MT LT285/75R16 (33x11.50r16) tires, Trail Gear prerunner bumper with winch capabilities, Kenwood head unit with Bluetooth/hands free operation, JBL door and rear speakers, Wet Okole custom neoprene seat covers, new grille, headlights, bulbs, corner lights, rear bumper, window weather stripping and a few other odds and ends.

Cosmetic details:
In addition to the above, anything that was removed was properly cleaned, painted and/ or had bolt replacement done accordingly. As the new suspension parts went in, the frame and axles were repainted before the new hardware went on. The fender-wells were recoated with fresh undercoat. Items such as the front bumper and fender flares were treated with a very fine, lightweight bedliner texture. Upon completing the build the body was claybarred and waxed thoroughly- it feels smooth as glass.

The only item that I didn't address during my build was the actual body paint. It still maintains a very high shine and feels incredibly smooth. That being said, there are some scratches and dings as you might expect from a 16 year old truck. There's a chip in the paint on the tailgate and the gas filler door has some chipping along the top. There are a few small dings on the driver-side bed. The truck is not perfect but looks absolutely amazing. It's only been driven about 1200-1500 miles since it's completion (only two days in the rain).
