1974 Toyota Land Cruiser Wagon Description

1974 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 Factory Restored

Up for auction is an extremely rare, original example of the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 4x4 Wagon. Fully restored to factory specifications, this cruiser is equipped with a fully rebuilt F155 engine mated to a three speed floor shift transmission with the ultra rare Power Take Off front winch that works flawlessly. This 4 wheel drive wagon is ready to take you on your next adventure. Fully inspected, tagged, and titled in Texas, this a turn-key rig that is ready for the road.
The interior has been fully restored with factory spec headliner, seats, floor mats, and door panels. The dash has all period correct switches as well as the original AM radio and single Japanese speaker mounted on the passenger firewall. All electronics and wiring is in excellent working condition as well as all signals and lights. Sound and heat shielding mat were placed under a fresh layer of carpet before the factory rubber Toyota mats.
The suspension has been upgraded with a 1.5 inch lift by HFS shackles and Monroe HD shocks to give this FJ55 a very firm, comfortable ride on and off road. New steering components, all new heavy duty tie rod ends, and Old Man Emu steering stabilizer on the front end make this a dream to drive on the highway or backroad. The 33x10.50R15 BF Goodrich Mud Terrains are brand new and look exceptional with the factory wheels and hubcaps. Braking system has been totally restored with all new wheel cylinders and rebuilt original dual master cylinder.
The power train F155 engine has been recently rebuilt and runs strong and cool with a recored factory radiator and all new hoses. Transmission, transfer case, and power take off has all been fully serviced and the cruiser has new fluids throughout, including both front and rear differentials. New clutch and rear main seal have been installed and the transmission shifts well and the 4x4 works very well in all gears. The low end torque and power this has wagon is unbelievable!
This is a three year restoration, using the best parts available and patience to wait for no longer available parts. This FJ55 lived it's entire life in Southeast Oklahoma and North Texas so there was no rust issues on the original frame, and only minor rust on one quarter panel in the rear. The cruiser runs and drives excellent, and almost every mechanical part has been replaced or reconditioned. The heater works great and the windows and doors lock and secure the vehicle. The rear power window works perfect and can be used by switch on the front dash or key in the rear. This is a 1974, so there was no power steering, disc brakes, or AC (only dealer installed). This cruiser was dealer installed back in '74 with a York compressor and under dash unit. I have left the compressor and front plumbing for AC, and will include a Vintage Air under dash evaporator with the sale. New weatherstripping was sourced for all windows, doors, and glass.
I restored this FJ55 to be able to drive daily, while keeping it a true stock example of an early Land Cruiser. I have had many FJ40s, but the FJ55 has been my favorite to drive and restore. It rides much better in my opinion than 40s and even 60s. The bench seats are very comfortable and you have tons of room in the back for supplies or camping when you fold the rear bench down. I want this to be enjoyed in the mountains or by the lake, or cruising in the suburbs with friends and family. It is the ultimate SUV that I am sure will last for many, many more years. I have added hundreds of photos that you can scroll through above this description. Please message me for any questions and happy bidding.
