2004 Toyota Camry LE Description
You are bidding on a 2004 Toyota Camry LE with a beige/taupe exterior and exterior, and 75,005 miles on the odometer.
History: My father-in-law was the first owner, and I am the second owner. The car was bought in Chicago, and then moved to Los Angeles 6 years ago.
The car has been garaged all 13 years, apart from the past month or so on the street. I still commute with it occasionally. The mileage will not be greater than 75,300 at the end of the auction.
The car has been serviced regularly. I think my father-in-law serviced the car at his local dealership.
I got 26 MPG on the last tank of gas. Your mileage may vary...
Condition: The car runs very smoothly. I don't feel any hesitation or shakiness even at 70MPH+. There seems to be lots of life left in this car.
My mechanic says the car is in good condition for a car of this age. He pointed out some minor oil leaks around hose connections and such, but nothing out of the ordinary for a 13-year old car. There is no oil or any other leaks dripping on the ground. The tires have lots of tread left, but the drywall on all of them is cracked because they are old. My mechanic doesn't recommend using these tires for a long highway trip.
A/C blows very cold and heater blows hot. All accessories and features (radio, speakers, power locks, power wing mirrors, cruise control, etc.) work well.
There are some signs of wear, as expected. There is a decent-sized dimple in the right corner of the rear bumper. And there are a few small exterior scratches here and there, especially on the rear bumper. The hubcaps have scratches from occasional street parking. All of this is visible in the last few pictures.
The interior is largely spotless. The floor mats are new. It doesn't have that new car smell, but it doesn't have a bad smell either. As far as I know, no-one has ever smoked in the car, and no pets have been in the car. The trunk has a minor stain from a leaky can of Fix-a-Flat.
Accidents: The only accident was a dent in the rear driver's side door, when a neighbor backed into me in the parking lot at about 3 MPH. The dent was repaired flawlessly; insurance covered it. Safe to say there is no structural damage from this "love tap". My wife also backed into a pole or something, which caused the dimple in the rear bumper.
Included: Two keys and two remote-entry key fobs are included. The keychain loop is broken on one of the key fobs. The original manual is also included.
The stock radio was replaced with a Clarion head unit a few years ago. It has AM/FM radio, CD player, Bluetooth, a USB/iPod connection, and is Sirius FM-ready. Everything works well, though the Bluetooth connection is a bit flaky with some phones. The head unit fits the standard receptacle in the dash, but it doesn't look like the original radio.
The car battery was replaced a couple years ago. NOTE: If you disconnect the battery for a while, you might lose all of the engine computer's information on fuel/air mixture, etc. Therefore, the engine might stall frequently until you drive it at about 60 MPH or faster for several minutes. I learned this the hard way when I replaced the battery. A Pep Boys employee noticed it was an '04 Camry and mentioned this fact.
If you experience the same thing, then rev the engine while in park immediately after you start it, to keep the engine running. Then carefully drop it into gear when the road is clear (not at a high RPM!). Get it up to speed for a while. That should allow the computer to take new measurements and sort itself out.
