I bought this beautiful 2007 Prius as a used/pre-owned car in March, 2016, when she had “only” 249,000 miles on her. I’ve put about 88,000 miles on her since then, and she’s been virtually trouble-free. Everything works. No warning or check engine lights. Very well maintained high-mileage touring sedan, I’ve driven it to probably half of the states in the USA. Almost all mileage is highway miles. Typical scuffs, scratches, and dings for a high mileage car. She took a 2-3 mph tap on the rear bumper when another driver wasn’t paying enough attention while I was stopped at a yield sign. Extremely minor damage to back bumper was fixed with clear glue. No airbag deployment. Wheels are great, but tires need replacing. The engine is making a loud tapping/knocking/pinging sound that appears to be coming from “deep down in the engine,” according to my local mechanic. It will be up to the next owner to diagnose/fix, I'm not putting any time or money into it.

Kelly Blue Book value: $3,250 to $4,250 (if it didn’t need engine work).

All Systems Go! This attractive pale green 2007 Prius looks fantastic and runs (but the engine makes a loud tapping noise). Its few minor blemishes just add to the charm.

So, why is it so cheap? What’s wrong with it?

  • It’s got a few small cosmetic blemishes. Typical stone chips on the hood. Dings & little dents typical of a high mileage car.
  • The rear bumper has several cracks in it from a very low speed (2-3mph) rear end tap. I repaired the cracks with an awesome, flexible clear plastic adhesive, and the bumper is now perfectly functional again, even though the repairs are visible. No further work needed.
  • This is the big one. The engine is making a loud tapping/knocking/pinging sound. It sounds pretty bad. My local mechanic says he thinks it’s coming from “deep down in the engine.” So the buyer is cautioned that you will probably need to either install a new/used engine or rebuild the existing engine.
  • All these minor flaws add up to big savings for you!

Buy this car today, and start enjoying it tomorrow!

I’ve had this car since I purchased it used in March 2016 (88,000 miles ago), and it has been very reliable for me the entire time. Now it’s time for someone new to enjoy this powerful little touring sedan.
